Yell, the second biggest island of the Shetland group, is seperated from Mainland by
Yell sound. Almost cut into two islands by the waters of Whalefirth and Raefirth, Yell is
almost completely peat moor with the most interesting scenery found on the coastline. There are
many archaeological sites including fifteen chapels. The oldest surviving house is the Old Haa
of Burravoe which has been converted into a museum.
