While making Reload, an album of duets and collaborations with many of the big names in modern music, Tom Jones, the elder statesman of Welsh Rock, travelled more across the atlantic than at any point in his long career. However by waiting patiently until each of his collaborators were free and then jumping on a plane at short notice, Jones ensured this was an album of the best talent and not just those available at the time. The range of artists is so wide that there's bound to be a few that won't appeal to the listener but the quality of song and performance lifts this far above the cheesy tribute album it could have been. The album debuted at no 1 in 1999 and climbed back to the top for the second time in 2000 on June 11th.
