Gabrielle
No 1: Feb 13th

Rise, the latest album by popular singer/songwriter Louise Gabrielle Bobb debuted low in the album charts when first released. However the extraordinary success of the title track as the second single catapulted the album into the top 10 and eventually to a three week run at the top starting on 13th February. Highlights from the album include the other singles Sunshine and the retro 70s style When A Woman, the Diana Ross-like Falling and the soothing Should I Stay. A great UK soul album... Gabrielle first came to prominence with the no 1 single Dreams in 1993 which also reached the US Top 40.

And the rest...

... Marvin Gaye
No 8: Feb 13th

... Stephen Gately
No 9: Jun 25th

Going solo from a successful group is never easy but Stephen Gately keeps mostly to a sound formula on his first album New Beginning with plenty of Boyzone style ballads to keep the fans happy including his cover of Art Garfunkel's Bright Eyes. However there are more uptempo tracks too, which should take the project in a new direction. Rumours abound that Boyzone have split, but Stephen and the others insist that this is not the case. Not until they see just how well they can do on their own... The album debuts at no 9 on June 25th...

... Gomez
No 10: Oct 1st

... David Gray
No 2: Jul 9th

Born in Manchester and brought up in Wales, David Gray has had to wait a long time for his success in the UK although in Ireland he is already a major artist. His first album was released in 1993 and despite critical acclaim for his work, lack of financial success forced him to fund the recording of his fourth and latest album, White Ladder, himself. Recorded in a London room with the windows open, the album contains the sublime track Babylon and in the week which saw that song debut in the top 5 singles, the album rose into the UK Top 10. His appearances at this year's Glastonbury festival helped propel the album further to no 2 on July 9th...

... Macy Gray
No 3: Jan 16th

... Green Day
No 4: Oct 8th

The punk pop kings Green Day are back with their sixth album Warning which sees the band return to the form of Dookie. The single Minority sets the tone, short simple songs that will please any crowd and will lighten the atmosphere set by the rest of the american rock crew like Slipknot and Limp Bizkit. Other great tracks include Misery, Jackass and Macy's Day Parade. No longer simply clowns Green Day bring a bit of maturity to their act with Warning without losing the optimism and cheeky infectious sound of their previous outings.
