How good a driver are you?. Good enough for today's traffic conditions!.It is a fact that drivers who have passed the Advanced Driving Test are 75% less likely to be involved in a road traffic accident. The Best Safety device is a trained driver Advanced driving is the ability to control the position and speed of the vehicle safely, systematically and smoothly, using road and traffic conditions to make reasonable progress unobtrusively, with skill and responsibility. The skill requires a positive but courteous attitude and a high standard of driving competence based on concentration, effective all round observation, anticipation and planning. This must be co-ordinated with good handling skills. The vehicle should always be at the right place on the road at the right time, travelling at the right speed with the correct gear engaged and can always be stopped safely in the distance that can be seen to be clear. Improving Driving Standards and Promoting Road SafetyThe standard L-test is only an elementary examination of your driving. It
has remained largely unchanged since 1934 (reverse parking was added recently,
and the theory test is a very new idea) and you can pass it without
demonstrating more than the most basic grasp of driving skills, and without ever
driving on a motorway or at night. The real learning starts when you throw away
your L-plates and begin the process of acquiring mature driving skills. Many
people realise this, and there comes a time when they want to reassure
themselves that their driving is developing along the right lines. This
is why the IAM exists. By taking the IAM's Advanced Driving Test, you
can measure the progress you have made since passing the basic L-test. The Group has been in existence for 40 years and has an excellent pass rate
for people taking the Advanced Test through our guidance scheme and after
passing the Test there is the opportunity of becoming an observer for the Leeds
Group and giving your knowledge to others wishing to take the test, also there
are events and monthly meetings open to all members, associates and
guests at which we get together and have a quiz, a guest speaker on a variety of
interesting subjects or have general discussions on driving or related matters.
We also arrange visits to places of interest and have social evenings . So if you have an interest in driving come on down and meet us, You
will get a warm welcome.
Driving Assessment There is no obligation You may have passed the standard UK Department of Transport L-test a long time ago and are now considering polishing your driving skills, or you are wanting to update those skills to match modern driving conditions.
