| END OF SEASON
REPORT
This year has been closest to being
one of the Clubs best, congratulations must go to the Under 16 for
winner the inaugural Regional cup at Blantyre Vics ground 3-1 against a
good Harmony Row team. This cup was made up of teams from all the
leagues in the West of Scotland. They were challenging right up to the
end of the season for the league but with a tight squad it ran away from
them. They did get to the Semi-finals of the Scottish cup but were
beaten in extra time by a good Syngenta side. The 13’s beat Westerton
in the final of the Summer Cup on the final day of the competitive
season for the Club.
Of all
the competitive teams only one finished outside the top five in their
top divisions of their leagues which is fairly credible. The two new age
groups formed had mixed seasons, with the 19’s struggling which we
anticipated, however the amalgamation of the 17’s and the 19’s for next
season has already thrown up some good results promising big things. The
team has looked a good side under the control of Frank Hepburn and Alan
Milne.
The
Amateurs had a slow start, however they picked up and weren’t far off
the promotion places, and had they started the run two/three weeks
earlier they would have been promoted.
Both
Brian Grays 15’s who got to a final but were unfortunately beaten and
Greig Brown/Kevin McLuskeys 14’s put in sterling performances throughout
the season and finished in high positions in their leagues
Eddie
Parks 12’s team finished their season in the SYCA unbeaten and has high
expectations for next year, as we do of Stevie Derricks 12’s also who
play in the Cumbernauld league.
The
Soccer Sevens age groups, are churning out top quality players year in
year out now, and I think within the next couple of years we will be
seeing a lot of players playing professionally who played for the Club.
The work that the coaches put in at these age groups is phenomenal and
it is lucky the Club have them on board.
We have
a number of people who work hard behind the scenes to ensure the Club
runs smoothly and without Sandra Hepburn, Frank Hepburn, Stevie
Oliffe, Caroline Oliffe, June Grey, Alan Milne and Paul Burns things
would not be as well run.
We hope
that next year will surpass this season, and I am confident it will
through the commitment all of the coaches show.

Committee Members Required
The Club
due to its size is looking for new committee members, this possibly
would only require someone to commit to 4-5 hours a month. We are
looking at mums/ dads/ friends/ family/ retired people to help with
administration/ fundraising to help the Club grow. Without this
assistance we cannot take on more players as we are currently at our
limits. We also get very little funding due to being a football club,
and have to raise all our own money. If interested you can contact me
through the website, or call 0141-586-1019 (Ian Grey)
