Club Projects

Now that the Club has been running for 27 years we have had a couple of hard decisions to make as to what our next progression would be with regards to development. Our Soccer Academy, our latest project, has been successful beyond all expectations, and we hope that our next venture will achieve the same success.

Having travelled to Holland on a number of occasions, we significantly lack facilities of a suitable standard to facilitate appropriate player development. The current facilities also don’t allow us to enlarge the Club, and we are now looking at sitting at our current total of 250 boys.

Having recognised this some time ago, we have made a few approaches to take on a bit of land to supplement what we hire from the Council to allow further progress. These all have been knocked back, except for one, which has been in for, review for six months now. We have made an application to an unnamed organisation, to lease an under used facility for approximately for 25 years. This application is being seriously considered, as there is little that can actually be done with the site due the current limitations on it.

We have done some preparatory work and costing on plans for this site with a view to turn it into a grass eleven-a-side pitch suitable to take seven-a-side pitches also, with a training area to the side. We would have to raise funds to carry out the work on the park and also to put in adequate changing accommodation, temporary or otherwise.

We are hoping that we can gain support from the boys and parents once it gets the go ahead, and hope that we can also persuade local companies to help. We would be looking for people who may be willing to chase up companies for sponsorship, whether it is in the form of money or materials. We would also be looking for people who would be willing to give up their time to help build the facility. This will in turn become a big project, but we hope that this will give the Club a solid base for the next 25 years. It may mean that we could start second teams at all age groups to ensure that everyone who wants to play football gets the chance, no matter their ability.

If you would like to find out more about this project please don’t hesitate to e-mail Ian Grey through the website.

Club Objective

Rossvale Football Club has now been running for 27 years, and has grown into a Club with around 300 members with players and officials combined. As you can appreciate this is a large Club, but due to the slow and methodical build up over the years, by hardworking Club Officials, we now have in place a structure that has built a certain amount of stability into the Club. This will hopefully carry us on for at least the same amount of years again working at the same level or higher.

The current group of officials appears to be the most hardworking, as they are pushing the Club onto greater things with the support and ideas that they are coming up with. The Club now has about 50 coaches who are SFA trained and a vast majority of them have or will have their First Aid Certificates by the start of Season 2003-2004.

Through a lot of vision, we are now starting to reap the benefits, of what we put into place up to ten years ago, The Soccer Academy, has surpassed the expectations we ever had for it, supplying boys to Hearts and Celtic form Under tens down. The older age groups are having their success too, having lost a number of boys to the Professional youth ranks, around 14 in total for last season.

Success is measured in many ways, trophies and titles, the Club has won trophies over the Seasons, leagues etc, plus three Scottish Cup wins, the last being 2001 at Hampden. However success can be measured in boys being nurtured and making the move to a higher standard, and also to coaches, with six in recent years moving to professional Clubs. It can also be measured that we have managed to keep a substantial amount of players playing for our Club week in week out, some being with the Club up to seven/eight years. These players are playing purely for the enjoyment of it, which gives a great deal of satisfaction to the officials and myself, to see that we are giving such enjoyment to these kids.

If you wish to find out more about the Club, please get in touch with Ian Grey through the Clubs e-mail address.
