| R50R: I am trialling a new method of calculating player ratings, a rolling average of the last 50 games played (hence Rolling '50' Rating).
There are many flaws in the current calculation of player rating, not least that you can play either 5 or 20 games in a season and get a rating that doesn't differentiate between the accuracy of the two. In theory this should be a more accurate representation of how good a player is. Where a player has not played 50 rated games, their rating is appended with a 'P' for 'Partial'. If the new method works to my satisfaction, it will come into effect at the start of the 2010/11 season. |

As usual this is all accessed via the Season Archive menu. |

| As the weekly newsletter is indicating the ratings upsets as they occur, the Team MVP pages now include the number of ratings upsets for each player and, added to the Season Info menu, is a Ratings Upsets table. This table identifies those players who have achieved the most ratings upsets AND also those who have performed better against stronger opposition. There has been a minor revamp to the Ladies section of the Contents menu to accomodate the Blind Pairs results from last week. Old seasons can be found under the Ladies Archive menu option. The Ladies League menu options is now used solely for the current season. |

| Next season, the player statistics will be more comprehensive. Each player will have their own dedicated page from which you will be able to view all their results for the current season, along with the ratings for the match (which is the basis from which a new rating is derived each season).
A preview of the depth of information held can be seen by looking through the season archives (click on the links under the "Season Archive >>>" contents heading on the left). You will see that every team and every player within a team now has a link. Although all results can be seen as far back as 1999-00 season, the individual match ratings are only available from the 2005-06 season onwards, as I changed the method of storing information before that season. Enjoy - if you're as sad as me. |
