HOW TO ERECT A GOAL |
|||||
|
On match days, one of the first and most important jobs to be done is to set out the pitches and erect the goals. Each goal comes in a bag containing various lengths of plastic tubing, some netting - and if you're lucky a mallet. However the one thing you won't find is a set of instructions on how to put it all together - and if you thought a Rubik cube was a difficult puzzle - that's easy if you've never erected a goal before. So, here's a simple guide.
Assemble the goal using the 10 long tubes, the 2 short tubes and the 6 corner pieces as shown in the Front, Back and Side views of the goal - Figures 1, 2 and 3.
Note the position of the two shorter tubes at the lower end of each post and the 6 joints (J) in Figure 1. Make the joints using the 6 slide-in jointing pieces as shown in Figure 4. If the tubes won't easily slide onto the jointing pieces then the mallet can be used to help them. Note on each side of the goal the position of the holes in the tubes at the top and at the back of the goal. These holes are where the thin support tubes fit.
By bending the goal forward, fit the thin support tubes as shown in Figure 5.
Once the goal frame is complete, drape the net over the back and sides attaching it securely using the clips on the netting. Finally, place the completed goal in the correct position at the end of the pitch and secure it to the ground using the mallet to knock in the 3 U shaped pins, one at the back and one at each side. To test your completed goal try and remove the net with a shot from the penalty spot. |
