LAST REGULAR TRAINING SESSION OF THE SEASON IS SATURDAY 3 APRIL FROM 10
TO 12
Boxgrove have confirmed the school is not available to us during the summer
term, when the field will become a running track, as they don't want the
grass to be churned up by our football boots. This effectively means that
we stop training at the end of this term, the last session being Saturday
3 April. Hawks' league fixtures will be over by then, but Knights will
have four important matches still to play (their recent run of form having
driven them up the SPL First Division table), so we may try to find somewhere
else to run out on May Saturdays. However, unless we contact you with different
information, take it that we will not be training after the Easter break.
We hope to set up one or two friendlies for the Hawks in May and will most
likely enter a couple of six-a-side tournaments for boys from both teams
to play in if they wish. Details will go out to everyone when they're confirmed.
FC CRUSADERS ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING: FRIDAY 23 APRIL, STARTING AT 8 PM
Those of you who have been with us for a while will know this to be a
lively event (although we do not ever expect to repeat last year's most
successful
meeting) where we take the opportunity to review our activities on and
off the field in 2003/2004, consider any proposed changes to our Articles
of Association, report on our finances, agree the subscription amount
due in August, elect a committee and generally make plans for next season.
All great fun ! All Parent Members are welcome to attend and each of
us
has a vote (no children, please). The venue will be announced once we
have an idea of likely numbers attending so don't be too surprised if
you're
asked about this over the next week or so. We shall only book a hall
if we know by 8 April that more than a dozen of us are going to be there;
we'll meet at one of the current committee members' houses and save on
the hall hire if interest is likely to be low. We'll email everyone with
the venue confirmation during the week after Easter, so, if your email
address has changed since the start of the season, please let Penny know.
Finally, an apology: If you're familiar with the Articles, you'll know
the AGM should have been scheduled for March, but the Committee felt
that
to be too early in the season, so opted for a more practical late April
date.
YOU CAN LET PENNY KNOW IF YOU'RE COMING BY PHONING HER ON 01483 457998
OR BY SENDING HER AN EMAIL TO: penny.bolton@btopenworld.com
PRESENTATION NIGHT: FRIDAY 14 MAY AT 7.30 IN ST PIUS' CHURCH HALL, MERROW
This is always a fun occasion where we celebrate our teams' success and
recognise every player's contribution -and this season's event promises
to be no different. No Crusader would want to miss it! All players and
their families are welcome. We'll have more details for you soon.
PENALTY SHOOT OUT COMPETITION
We intend to hold this annual fund raising event on Saturday 24 April
and are currently trying to secure some space at Albury CC to do it.
(If not,
does anyone have a really big garden !?) More news soon, hopefully. This
is an important event for the Club as, if every player raises just £20
from sponsorship (and some have managed to get over £50 in the
past), we'll have enough to pay for coaching for the whole of next season,
for
example.
SUMMER TRAINING
Whilst we shall be taking a break from Club activities during the summer
(we'll miss you too), there'll be an exciting opportunity, if enough
boys are interested, for some close season training with Richard Hodgson.
Richard
is a qualified coach, has been putting the boys through their paces brilliantly
all season and has kindly offered to work with them on their skills on
selected Saturday mornings in July and August to keep them ticking over
until everything kicks off again in earnest. The cost is expected to
be around £3.50 per session, numbers are limited to 20 and the
venue will be either in Guildford or in Woking. Parents should be aware
that,
as no Committee members will be attending (except possibly as parents
themselves), the Club will not be in a position to take responsibility
for the children.
FC Crusaders coaching will start again on the first Saturday in September
and matches will follow shortly after.
DEADLINE FOR REGISTRATION FOR NEXT SEASON: FRIDAY 18 JUNE
Packs will be going out immediately after the AGM. Please respond with
your usual promptness!
