Inspiration

We all have our heroes. There's always a band that inspires someone, often there's a person that inspires them too.

It's important to have an inspiration to start your playing off and reflect upon, but try not to outright copy someone else's musical style. Try to develop your own but use your inspiration as a basis.

I was going to list a few albums which are meant to show what really high quality playing is like but I couldn't think of what'd be best to pick, show here's a few tracks instead, these may not be your style but they're worth a listen just to show you what high quality playing is like:

Guitar

Jimi Hendrix - Voodoo Chile (reprise)       (Jimi Hendrix)

Van Halen - Eruption                              (Eddie van Halen)

Led Zeppelin - Achilles Last Stand          (Jimmy Page)

Joe Satriani - Surfing With The Alien        (Joe Satriani)

For drummers out there:

The Who - Happy Jack     (Keith Moon)

Led Zeppelin - Moby Dick (John Bonham: solo played using his hands)

Cream - I Feel Free          (Ginger Baker: live show more drum work)

Bass

Jaco Pastorius - any of his tracks

The Who - 'My Generation' or 'Won't get fooled again (live versions)' (John Entwistle)

Anything with 'Colin Hodgkinson' on. (especially 'San Francisco Bay' covers)
