COVENTRY - is one of our specialist research areas. The city was of course a major industrial manufacturing centre during both World Wars.
Many of the local major industries saw large numbers of their male staff enlisting in the armed services. Many didn’t return. Many of the bigger local factories produced in-house magazines that reported the departure of their men, the medals they won, and the fate of those that didn’t return. The local civic authorities also published books detailing those that had ‘fallen’ giving useful background information about their families, employment, rank etc. not found elsewhere. Top
Coventry was also the victim of the horrific Blitz in 1940 and there are many records of the event and of the civilian deaths.
Over a 20 year period, we have constructed a COVENTRY WAR DEATHS INDEX that enable us to trace the details of the many locals, civilian and servicemen, killed in two World wars. We can do this more quickly than even the local record offices can themselves. Top
