STANDARD SERVICE Our fees are based on the time spent researching the records and compiling your report. Our hourly rate is £11. All fees are in Pounds Sterling (GBP).We make no charge for travelling expenses or time. An additional charge of £6 (£10 outside UK) per report is made to cover postage and incidental record copying charges.
All fees must be paid in advance of work commencing.
Our clients normally prefer to commission research in blocks/fixed time periods. Typical examples are;
1) Ten Hour Period of Research - Total Cost = £ 116 (£120 outside UK) order now
2) Twenty Hour Period of Research - Total Cost = £226 (£230 outside UK) - This is preferable for the more substantial projects. order now
Multiples of the above time blocks, eg 30 hours, 40 hours are also popular.
We are happy to negotiate a cost/time period arrangement that is appropriate to your needs based on the above hourly rate. Some of our overseas clients find it more convenient to commission research on the basis of units of cost, such as £100, £200 or £300 worth of research for banking reasons and we are happy to accommodate that approach based on the above hourly rate. Minimum Research Period - Please note that the minimum period of research we can undertake is four hours.The Total Cost of a four hour period of research with report etc will be £50 (£54 outside UK).This maybe all you require if you only have one ‘issue’ you want to resolve in your family history. order now
Please note that you are only charged for the actual time spent researching your project. So if we spend a day at a record office and our discoveries after 30 minutes researching your family tree mean that the next step in the research requires us to research at another site on another day, you only pay for the 30 minutes. There’s no charge for the rest of the time spent at the record office or for travelling time and expenses. Top
Single Record Retrieval - Some clients only want to trace the record of a particular event. If you want us to track down and get a copy of a single event record event, such as a birth, death or marriage certificate or a baptism record there is a standard charge of £20 (including postage anywhere). This includes a copy of the GRO certificate or of the register entry where possible. Top order now
EXTRAS - As all fees are paid in advance of work commencing there will be no hidden extras for you to pay. There are are few extras which you might like to consider however when commissioning your research.
Copies of Original Documents - Most serious family historians will want a copy of all original documents that provide evidence for their family tree and we encourage this. Our standard fees allow for the inclusion of a few at no extra cost. Where more than a few are required then we recommend paying an additional sum to allow for the purchase of these. Our charges are based on the price charged by the records office (typically £1 per item) plus postage.We suggest allowing £1 for every hour of research commissioned for copy charges.So for 10 hours research you would send an additional £10 & we would have that amount to cover the cost of copying original documents. For GRO birth, marriage, death certificates allow £8 per certificate. Top
Copy of Report and Original Documents on CDROM. - £6 (£10 outside UK). The results of our research are provided to you in the form of an A4 computer-printed document along with any photocopies of original documents you have purchased. If you use your computer then having your results on CDROM could prove useful and save you a lot of time. The CDROM will include a copy of your report in doc, txt, and pdf format. It will include scans of any certificates, copies of original documents etc. These will be saved in a no. of different file formats and sizes for easy inclusion in your own records. Any new members of your family tree uncovered will be saved in a gedcom file, and other file formats for easy import into your own family tree software. Top

This could be in the form of a Presentation that plays on a computer or a book for example. This is one of our specialities.
