Eastern Athletic Association Track & Field Championships
Bedford 11th July 2004
A smaller than usual turnout due to this weeks English Schools and SML meetings, but some excellent performances from those athletes who were able to compete.
Some club Records were also broken –
Jonelle Johnson-Turner (U13 Girls 100m)
Lisa Clarke (U13 Girls Long Jump)
Paul Clarke (U13 Boys 200m)
Matthew Barden (U13 Boys 800m)
Joe Steele (U17 Men Long Jump)
Lisa Clarke followed up her LJ record with a PB at 100m and Jonelle also improved hers in the LJ. Paul made it a good day for the Clarke family by running a PB in the 200m. Well done also to Claire Tucker, our only U15 girl there, who ran well in the 100 and 200m.
Another good win for Claire McMahon in the Senior Women 1500m. Claire is such a good club athlete, who always turns out and gives her best. Amy Jankiewicz had 2 good 3rd places in the sprints.
Another good performances in the U13 boys from Peter Benedickter, who ran a rare 800m, coming in just behind Matthew, who seems to improve every time he runs. Daniel Clorley got very close to Perry’s club record when winning the U15 boys 1500m, running an excellent 4m 32.97s.
In the U17 Boys, Joe Steele, returning from a very good 7th place in the English Schools Triple Jump, broke his Long Jump Record with 6.47m, and had 3 huge no-jumps in the triple, 2 of which looked way over 14.5m. Andrew Gough suffered rare defeats to a Bedfordshire athlete, coming 2nd in both sprints to Bedfords’ Nigel Levine. Matt Sutton had a very good win in the 400m and a 2nd in the 800m. Luke Jones ran a strong 2nd place behind Matt in the 400. Strong performances from our U17 1500m runners, with Tom Best getting an excellent PB.
The improving Danny Wilson won his JM 100m, and came 2nd to Kyle Andrew in the 200m. Jamie Attwood won his JM 1500m and Aaron Waterfield followed up his busy day at the SML the day before by winning his 400m Hurdles.
