Mac's web siteUI-View add on software and DownloadsUI-View has an open API which has enabled many amateurs to write software applications. It is worth visiting Andy Pritchard's M0CYP site (details on my LINKS page) to see some of the many applications that can be used to enhance your use of UI-View. I normally run two of Andy's applications, UI-Path and UI-HeightTrack. The following screen grabs will give you just a glimpse of what these applications can do. UI-PathTo see how UI-Path can plot the coverage of a digipeater click on this screen above to see a normal day for MB7UJ (225kb)
The above UI-Path screen shows the stations that I could hear direct i.e. not via a digipeater. Click on the screen to see an enlarged view. (125kb) UI-HeightTrackUI-HeightTrack plots a mobile (tracker) station's progress. The line can be shown in varying colours depending on the height information given by the GPS of the tracker. The above screen was recorded during a local RAYNET exercise supporting a half marathon, shown by the red line on the map. The location of the lead vehicle (G4KWT-9) is shown by the dark blue line and the tail end vehicle (G8FRC-9) is shown by the light blue line. An example of the flexibility of UI-View is the ability to translate a station's callsign to a name e.g. G4KWT-9 label can be changed to "Lead Car". This is done via a simple look up table that you configure on your PC via SETUP - EDIT TRANSLATIONS. UI-PointUI-Point is from Roger Barker G4IDE (SK). It allows you to us the maps of Microsoft MapPoint to zoom down to street level. Click on the following screen for an enlarged view (45kb) DownloadsUI-View can also display information on maps that is stored locally on your PC as "Overlay" files. I have produced some overlay files to show repeater locations in the UK. Click on the following screen to see the repeater icons (ringed in green) and information available when you click on them. The overlay files are zipped and a read-me text file explains how to store the files in the correct UI-View folder. The zip file is only 18kb in size. The overlays have been produced from the Microsoft Excel lists available on www.coldal.org.uk/rmc downloaded on the 10 May 2002. I intend to update these in the near future and improve the location accuracy which was limited by using the Maidenhead locator, rather than the Ordnance Survey NGR. Drop me an email if you would like me to contact you when the new version is available. I will also update this web site. Click on the folder and SAVE the zip file to your PC.
