The link between cigarette
smoking and lung cancer is well known. Approximately 121,000 people die of lung cancer in the U.K. per
year, a similar figure is also apparent
within the US, and about 75 percent of lung cancer deaths are related to
smoking. But did you know smoking
is responsible for more deaths from cancer than any other single agent? Smoking causes 30 percent of
all cancer deaths. Cigarette smoking is also
involved in other upper respiratory cancers. Such as oral, larynx, naso-pharynx, as well as cancer of the
esophagus and bladder. In all, smoking
is a causal agent in more than 350,000 premature deaths every year. To put it in money terms,
heavy cigarette smoking costs industry around £47 billion a year in
unnecessary bills, £11 billion for the medical care to treat the illnesses
it causes and at least £36
billion for accidents, absenteeism, lost output, etc. Studies in more than 15
countries have shown the death rate from lung cancer in smokers is about 15-25 times that of non-smokers. An
immediate drop in the likelihood
of sudden death is the first bonus for quitting smoking. Smoking is a major factor
in developing emphysema, chronic bronchitis, diseases of the circulatory system and peptic ulcers. Death rates from coronary
heart disease are at least double those of nonsmokers. A possible cause is the plug-up and constriction of
arteries caused by nicotine inhaled in cigarette smoke. This means that the
arteries carry less than the normal amount
of blood to the heart this in its turn damages the heart tissues. For pregnant women, the
cigarette smoke and nicotine constricts the blood vessels and the breathing movements of the unborn baby, while the
carbon monoxide reduces the baby's
blood oxygen level. The baby's birth weight may be below average. Death rates from smoking
lower tar and nicotine brands of cigarettes are still 9 times higher than
for non-smokers. There is no such thing as a safe cigarette. You can make an appointment with me at no cost to discuss your smoking problem and
plan a course of action to make you what you normally should be – namely a
non-smoker. Hypnotherapy is one
of the most effective treatments in curing the addiction to cigarettes and
tobacco. However it is important to understand that the smoker has to do
some work as well. The clients’ own ability to use
auto-suggestion is also mobilised by the use of judiciously worded post
hypnotic suggestion. Research comparing
many different studies of hypnotherapy has shown that on average smokers
are over five times more likely to break the habit with hypnosis
than by willpower alone. Hypnotherapy in general is also proven to be more
than twice as effective compared with nicotine gum. If you really want to
stop smoking, then one session of hypnotherapy could be all that you need. If you are really serious about stopping smoking and
