SERVICES OFFERED

My usual practice is to spend some initial time, approximately one hour, with a potential client. This is at NO charge to the client. I do this in order to discuss and assess the client’s requirements and to ascertain the manner in which hypnotherapy can be of assistance. The reason that I do this because hypnotherapy is NOT a panacea for everything; despite the many claims made by some practitioners. I always prefer to have a non-committal meeting with a potential client in order to ensure that the client is fully apprised of the likely effectiveness, time, and cost of the treatment and agrees with my approach and method.

The practice of hypnotherapy may be considered as comprising three major components, namely, Suggestion Therapy, Hypnoanalysis, and Medical Hypnotherapy.

Suggestion Therapy uses the hypnotic trance state to enable beneficial suggestions to be accepted by the subconscious mind and thus acted upon. It is an ideal approach to solving problems such as cigarette addiction, enhancing one’s self-esteem, ego-strengthening, overcoming guilt, performance enhancement, and improving one’s approach to life generally.

Hypnoanalysis is used in order to assist the client in recalling and releasing repressed traumatic events of early life and successfully abreacting them. When this is done there is great benefit to the client. This is because problems, which may be either psychological or physical and are the product of internal tensions caused by repression, are relieved and their consequent apparent effects no longer trouble the client.

Medical Hypnotherapy is valuable in the treatment of medical conditions which may be either psychosomatic or directly physical such as pain produced by a degenerative structural condition. For example, Medical Hypnotherapy is useful in assisting mothers-to-be to prepare for childbirth, or to assist those with arthritis and other complaints to manage physical pain.

It is important to understand that using hypnotherapy to assist in the treatment of any medical condition requires that such medical condition has been correctly diagnosed by the client’s medical practitioner prior to any discussion.

Typical Conditions that may benefit from hypnotherapy:

The conditions that can be successfully treated with Hypnotherapy are far too long and varied to catalogue in detail but certainly includes: stress, anxiety, panic, phobias, unwanted habits and addictions (e.g. smoking, overeating, alcoholism), disrupted sleep patterns, lack of confidence and low self-esteem, fear of examinations and public speaking, allergies and skin disorders, migraine and irritable bowel syndrome (IBS).

Additionally, it has proved of value within surgery, where normal anaesthetics have not been practical ( I must point out that this is not my speciality ), in the wider sphere of pain management and in the areas of both sporting and artistic performance enhancement.  As an adjunct to other counselling techniques, it can also assist in helping to resolve relationship difficulties and be useful within anger management strategies.
