Origins
Pyramid Guild took  the place of the Yateley Red Cross Youth and Junior Groups. The Yateley Junior Red Cross Group became Pyramid Guild on 1 January 2002.  It was joined by the Youth Group on 1 April 2002.

A year or so before Pyramid Guild came into existence, the Trustees of the British Red Cross Society decided that there would no longer be youth and junior groups as part of the Society.  Yateley Red Cross had two thriving groups.  The young members, parents, and youth workers decided that they wanted to keep the groups going.  In order to do this, after a lot of discussion and investigation, Pyramid Guild was founded.

To ensure adherence to the best modern standards and practice, it was decided that we should affiliate to a body which would monitor standards as necessary (Hampshire and Isle of Wight Youth Options), and seek registration as a charity.

Why Pyramid Guild?
Many possible names and logos were discussed at length.  Eventually, the badge evolved from numerous doodles - which started life as a stylized geometric version of a small blue teddy bear - into a very simple two-dimensional shape, a triangle.  Triangles, being two-dimensional, could fall over in our three-dimensional world.  This lead to the idea of a pyramid.  The pyramid had the added attraction of starting with a wide and diverse base, rising to a peak.  We hoped that our members might similarly achieve their peaks given guidance and encouragement.
