AGM 2 APRIL 2005 The AGM is going ahead as planned and is based around the Henley on Thames. Area. It is really accessible with some good towers booked. Please make the effort to support it. Most members live within one-hour drive of Henley. Members that have to travel further a field often make a weekend of it and have a thoroughly good time. Don’t forget your Boater, Jacket and punting pole! 1000th PEAL Congratulations to Anita Sherriff on achieving her 1000th peal. What a magnificent achievement. I believe Robert is not so far behind. Media Operations The Guild where given the opportunity to be interviewed by Media Operations from LAND COMMAND. A recording was made of the Guild ringing at Wilton, Wiltshire followed by individual interviews in the tower. Liz Davey broadcasted live one Sunday morning on BBC Radio Solent at a very early hour (Thank you Liz). We are hoping that a copy of the sound recording will become available shortly for access via the website. Watch this space. A big thank you to all those that gave up their Wednesday lunchtime to support it. Shropshire Outing The Shropshire outing organised by Peter Leigh was a good day out and enjoyed by all those that attended. The turnout was disappointing. The Guild aims to hold meetings around the country for the convenience of as many members as possible. The location and dates are well publicised in advance. When the meeting is close to your area please make the effort to attend. Amport House Training Weekend This is a thoroughly good weekend for ringers of all abilities. If you haven’t signed up already then feel free to do so. You can access and download the application forms from this website. Waterloo Quarter Peal Day This is an opportunity to ring a quarter peal for the guild. The ringing master is organising it this year. The venue is likely to be Woburn. The aim is to get as many people as possible to ring as many different quarter peals as possible. The successful quarter peals are usually dedicated to a significant event in military history. Suggestions for this year are the 60th anniversary of the end of WW2 and VE day. Of course suggestions are must welcome. If you are unable to make regular meetings why not give this one of event your full support, particularly if your enjoy ringing quarter peals or even peals. Secretary/Treasurer Change of Address Barry Sexton has changed jobs again. His new contact address is B Sqn, 256 (City of London) Field Hospital, 1a Iverna Gardens, Kensington, London, W8 6TN.
