 “Littles” week, for 5 - 7 year olds, 3-7 August 2009

This group meets daily in a local hall for one week. The children have one to one support which helps them to enjoy activities such as swimming, art and craft, cooking, games, outings and general good fun. This group is led by a children’s play leader who used to be one of our one to one helpers. She is assisted by a Speech and Language Therapist.

“Middles” week, for 8 - 11 year olds, 27-31 July 2009

Led by an experienced youth leader, the children meet daily for two days in a local hall with the above activities. Then they spend two nights at a residential outdoor activity centre (Sayers Croft). Again, there is one to one support and some added activities such as indoor rock-climbing and dry skiing.

“Bowles” week, for 11 years upwards, 3-7 August 2009

This group spends one week at an outdoor activity centre, “Bowles”, where they have the opportunity to take part in a wide range of sporting and non-sporting activities. There is a high ratio of adult/child support. Our group leader is an experienced youth worker and the Bowles staff run the individual activities.

Other Activities

Sometimes we organise a trip for some of the older more able young people. For a couple of years they went camping in the New Forest for a week and took part in a wide range of sporting and non-sporting activities. In recent years we have organised a long weekend break in May. We have taken groups to Devon and the Isle of Wight.

Overall, the children and young people have a tremendous amount of fun. They gain a lot in self-esteem and confidence.
