What it's all about!

Very often we think that going to church is all that is required, 'just as long as I go to church I will be alright', or we think 'just as long as I don't harm anyone I will be alright', but Jesus explained that a change has to occur within. 'No-one can see the Kingdom of God unless he is born again' (John 3:3). So what did Jesus mean?

Born again?

What does it mean to be born again? This is just a way of using language to express the change that happens when we invite Jesus into our lives.

The Bible

The Bible tells us all people everywhere have went away from God. We have not given God his due place in our lives, we have shut him out, and done things that displease him. This is called sin. We therefore need to repent of this, (tell God we are sorry and be prepared to change). This is our part.

God’s Part

God's part has already been done. The Bible tells us Jesus hung on the cross not because the nails kept him there, but because of his great love for each person, and that includes you.

The cross is significant because as Jesus died on it, he paid the price for our sin, opening up the way to Heaven and a relationship with God Therefore as we repent (our part), God is able to forgive and welcome us into his kingdom.

How do I do this?

Quite simply by prayer. One like this will do or you can use your own. 'Lord Jesus, forgive the way I have led my own life. Come into my life just now by your Holy Spirit, and change me so that I will live for you. Thank you. Amen'.

What now?

The Word of God tells us that 'if we confess our sin, He (God) is faithful and just and will forgive us our sin and cleanse us from all unrighteousness'. You have been Born Again. The assurance that you have is not to be found in feelings, although sometimes they are prevalent, but in the fact that God will do what he says he will (faith).

Further help

As a new Christian, just like a new baby, we require nourishment and help.  Nourishment comes in the form of reading God's word, and help comes from prayer and fellowship.

You will need to find a bible believing fellowship so that your new found faith in God will grow and develop.  If you are looking for a fellowship, email us and we will put you in touch with one close by.

If you live near us, why not consider an ALPHA course at our church or one at a church near you.
