Bowood Diamond deserves her success at 'Royal' shows..

Tilly takes second place in the open small riding horse class at the prestigious Royal International Horse Show.

After qualifing for RIHS on her first outing this season, Tilly went on to be placed second in both the new amateur riding horse class and the very strong open class at Windsor. Sadie Facchino said 'It really was a lovely day yesterday - even more so because the sun shone! I was pleased enough with my second in the amateur - the winner did look and go well and there were so many in it - I was very pleased to be pulled in third initially and moved to second being swapped with third placed.

I entered the ring for the open just hoping to be placed and feeling slightly disappointed that the amateurs weren't included in the championship and the top hat wouldn't get an airing. I had only packed it through Peter's insistence - assuming we wouldn't get anywhere! We were pulled in third below Jayne Webber and Jackson Fair & Square, so when Tilly went very nicely, I hoped we might at least stay third. I couldn't believe it when they pulled me in second!! Peter said that lots of people came up to him during the class and said how much she's improved over the winter. Mrs J was called forward to speak to the Queen as she had come to watch Stardust; Peter said he'd never been surrounded by so many photographers! Anyway, enough of my rambling! A very special day - Allister, Rob Walker, Jayne, Vanessa Ramm and me in the championship! Tilly was nervous certainly, but she tried her heart out and was just a star!'

Thank you Sadie and Tilly - all the Bowoods are very proud of you!

Bowood Top Cat

5 year-old 15.2hh exquisite conker bay gelding, with lots of personality. This horse is a little sweetie and loves attention. He is now backed and hacking alone and in company; starting school for a career as a large hack and in sidesaddle classes. Mind you, he'll have a jump in him too!

Seen here at his first dressage show with Toni Besley where they were 2nd with 65%.

Bowood Balmoral (Darcy) and Susan at home
Five year-old dark bay gelding by Bandmaster ex Broadstone Diamond Ice (by Demonstrator) is now in the ownership of Susan Marshall.

Susan's former horse of a lifetime, Las Vegas, was placed at HOYS in riding horse classes and successfully competed in dressage, so Darcy has a lot to live up to.

Darcy has settled into his wonderful new home, now hacking and schooling after a spell with Katie Jerram (and his sister Tilly) to broaden his education. We wish Susan and Darcy every success for the future! We might be able to persaude Wendy to let us have Darcy's diary!

Bowood Diamond crowned Supreme Amateur's horse at National Championships!

Tilly and Sadie reigned as supreme amateur combination at the British Show Horse Association National Championships taking the North Eastern Tyres Amateur o/r Small Riding Horse of the Year class over the Rowbotham's Regal Lady. This was an exciting win for Sadie as Tilly has been sidelined with injury since the beginning of August while she was on honeymoon in Kenya with new husband Peter. This resulted in all connections feeling very down in the mouth with the end of the season looming. However, all credit to Katie Jerram for a last minute call to Sadie to get Tilly to Moreton Show (5/9/09) to get her HOYS qualification and stand champion after a miracle recovery and only a week of work!

Sadie and Tilly continued their success at the National Show in the Friday evening performance to take the North Eastern Tyres Amateur o/r Riding Horse Championship over the Underwood's Broadstone Dolce Vita at the beginning of the evening.

They followed this with top spot in the Scats Countrystores Amateur o/r Supreme Championship giving them the ticket to go into the evening finale the Saunters Plant Hire Supreme Championship.

Sadie and Tilly stood first reserve champion to The Philanderer and Mathemadam High Spirit, a spectacular follow up to their Rising Stars Supreme last year!

2008 - Sadie bought Tilly as a replacement for her 2006 HOYS winner, Hamptonne Prince of Tides.

Well done to Sadie and Tilly for their brilliant performance at HOYS, finishing seventh in the large intermediate riding type class. Sadie was delighted with the result of their first visit to Birmingham. Tilly is now having a well earned winter holiday.

We are delighted to congratulate Sadie on her success with Tilly - especially winning the Deanwater Hotel & Curtis Rising Stars Championship in the Saturday evening performance at the British Show Horse Association National Championship show at Addington!

Sadie said "it was fantastic to win the 'Rising Stars' championship. The class was introduced a couple of years ago, but it's billed as a way of encouraging Intermediates to do the adult classes. They split it into hacks and riding horses and obviously I won the latter. I was originally pulled in second to Nicki Hall's Carnsdale Cinderella with a young jockey on, but switched around after the show and ride. Having watched Oliver Hood win the hack equivalent I had thought we'd really be riding for reserve in the evening performance, but I was wrong. Tilly rose to the occasion and her trot was just huge, especially in our individual lap of honour."

Also their win at BSPS Area 16 to qualify for HOYS in the ISRT class. To top off the day they were also Champion Intermediate under another judge (Joan Griffin, Sally Osbourne had judged the class). Sadie said "Tilly went really well and we got an excellent 59 for show and 37 for conformation. The marks were all quite close, but having the highest show mark meant we won. We also got our first piece of silverware - a salver - which was particularly nice for me, as I won it with Johnny (Hamptonne Prince of Tides) in 2005, so both of them will be on there."

Their 2008 results include:

7th ISRT at HOYS, Birmingham (11 October 2008)
1st
and reserve Riding Horse at Addington Manor Autumn Showing Festival (16 September 2008)
1st and Supreme Champion Rising Star at BSHA National Championship Show (6 September 2008)

1st and champion, qualifying for HOYS ISRT at BSPS Area 16 (20 July 2008)
3rd HOYS ISRT at East of England to Royal Angel and Lyncombe Blue Print respectively. Tilly coped fantastically with the busy atmosphere of the main arena and was one of only three to have a conformation mark above 30 (32) in a strong, large class.
1st and reserve RIHS Small Riding Horse at Midland Counties and 3rd HOYS ISRT.
3rd Small Riding Horse at Devon County where Tilly coped impressively with the mud and atmosphere at what was her biggest show so far.
1st and reserve Riding Horse and Amateur Riding Horse at The College EC (9 April 2008).
1st and reserve Intermediate SRT and 2nd in Small Riding Horse at West Midlands show (3 April 2008).
1st and reserve RIHS Intermediate SRT at Mid Herts Spring show with a fantastic 58/60 for our show and again 34/40 for conformation, with the judge - Majorie Ramsay commenting that she was gorgeous and Sadie could feel free to deposit Tilly in her yard at any point. (26 March 2008).
2nd HOYS SRT at BSPS Winter Championships to a former Royal International hack champion receiving the second best show mark and 34 for conformation.
2nd and reserve champion RIHS Intermediate SRT at BSPS Area 17 show (16 March 2008). Tilly has consistently scored 32-34 for conformation!

Sadie reports that at home Tilly continues to be developing into a character - having worked out how to undo bolts, she has now moved on to undoing clips, including the one that's been put on her stable door bolt to stop her opening it. Needless to say this has since been upgraded to something more Tilly proof! But with this new trick up her sleeve, she's decided to put it to good use in the field, undoing the clips on the front of her rug and taking it off to make sure she gets as muddy as possible, preferably the day before a show! Anyway, at least she's feeling happy and well, even if a little bit cheeky.

Bowood Moonstone

Moon and Annie warming up for their first affiliated dressage competition this year. They took fourth place at Hunters Equestrian followed by a win in Prelim 15 at Addington Manor on 4 April 2009.

Moon and Anne-Marie Neate have just started competing in dressage, they were first in the British Dressage Prelim 19 qualifier at Addington Manor on 17 July 2008. This is their second show after a 2nd place at Hunters Dressage at the end of June. Moon was very brave at Addington as he had to do his test in the International indoor arena with the flowers, flags and judges table, however, he took his job very seriously and took no notice of the new experiences once he'd inspected the situation and realised there was nothing worth eating! Annie and Moon have done all their schooling by themselves, so they are now looking for a trainer to help them move on and start to compete more seriously towards qualifying for the Winter regionals.

Moon is a six-year-old gelding by Bandmaster out of Florence, an RID mare by Bishop of Orange.

Recent results include:
1st Hunters Unaffiliated Dressage qualifying for the Autumn Championship (9 Aug 2008)
1st Addington Manor BD Dressage Prelim 19 (17 July 2008)
2nd Hunters BD Dressage (28 June 2008)

Bowood Sensation

6 year-old 14.2hh bay mare by Llanarth Alley Cat ex Sun Set Lass (Spartan General and Relko lines) with very correct conformation and very eye-catching movement. Suzie is a very sweet and bright mare, who loves to be at the centre of attention. Here she is at her first show in-hand - looking rather pleased with herself after winning both her classes!

2008 Bowood youngstock

Very precocious colt, born on Easter Sunday. He already thinks he is on the Olympic dressage squad with the most amazing, powerful and elastic movement. One to watch for the future, by Bandmaster out of Bowood Dancing Lady (Lord of the Dance ex Buttonhole)

Bowood Money Talks
By Demokrat (Han) ex Funny Money (Funny Man) aka Dennis, seen here (on the right) at his first show as a five year old with Warren Stevens. To the left is Louise Bell with Out of Sight aka Rupert. Dennis and Rupert came head to head in Novice Working Hunter classes all over the country and largely filled the first two slots. Dennis qualified for HOYS Show Hunter and Working Hunter as a five-year-old and was sold to be produced as a worker by Tim Fairburn. Sadly the relationship between the owner and Tim came to an end, but we are delighted to hear that Dennis is still with the owner and enjoying his hunting!
