The Loft

We have decided that it was about time to have more room, so have opted for a loft conversion as a more cost effective alternative to moving house. After much trawling of the web, Yellow Pages etc and many quotes from some total time wasters (mostly large national companies) I stumbled across an advert for a small local loft conversion specialist.

The Loft Conversion Company (Rdg)
0118 9453469

Their productivity level and workmanship has been outstanding and I would recommend them to anyone without reservation.

Below is a pictorial history of the conversion progress, just click on the image to see a larger version

DAY 1

" How the hell did they get those beams up here? "

DAY 2

"So thats where the ceiling will go"

DAY 3

We decided that I would complete any plumbing or electrical works myself, today I was told that I could "crack on with the wiring", fine I thought that will give me something to do at the weekend, not quite. "Crack on" actually meant "for tommorow" it was  a long night but Sue and I had a laugh pulling in all the cables.

DAY 4

"And then there was light" and warmth!
We now have windows and loft insulation, an appology to any nieghbours or low flying planes who thought we were trying to communicate using morse code.

We just had to keep checking the room atmoshere "Light On, Light Off .........."

DAY 5

Now we have stairs, Thank God! it stops Sue practicing her chin ups on the ceiling joists, she claims the steps slipped, I'd have got a photo but I was too busy catching Sue with one arm and trying to pick up the steps with the other.

DAY 6

The Plasterboarding continues

DAY 7

Studwork for the stairwell is taking shape

DAY 8

We have a stairwell with a window, the roof is now closed again
