Text Box: One Foot In The Groove

Well it’s Saturday at Otley

Our first afternoon

I peeked too early!

Weren’t you lot in that marquee?

I was till 3

And I’m feeling quit epoorly

And I didn’t behave

Now

I’ve got one foot in the grave

But if you still feel ropey

If you are reeling

Like dominos falling

This next act

Will cure you

(Beer helps too of course)

They are storming a gale-force

And joggin us jigging

Right into reality

Setting feet tapping

And hearts free

You, any minute

Will be rolling in it

And

If you find yourself happy

Hopefully even joyful

Carried away

And able to say

Hey, they’re really OK

And life’s OK

Suddenly everything’s OK

Then you’ve….

Got

One Foot In The Groove

Its been a long late weekend

I’ve got one foot in the grave

Someone told me

“Its all self-inflicted”

That’s not true

It’s what’s expected

This is a festival

You have to overindulge

It’s traditional

But just as we flag

Back to the tent drag

There’s been an announcement

Drastically effecting Otley

We are going to have to celebrate

An old law has been relealed

Since 1531

This whole region

Has been under a bylaw

Banning wild movement

And raucous behaviour

Namely

Stomping, hand clapping

Arm waving, cheering

Whooping

Wand, wait for it,

Dancing

So we with our next act

(Who helped repeal the act)

(With their instruments of torture)

Will be celebrating

Celebrating our good fortune

We’re gonna reel / roll

And dance a jig

Get cheering

Get stomping

Move it big

Our freedom to prove

With

One Foot In The Groove
