Very early days, but this is the list of any ideas we have that connect with numbers. It will be updated as we go.

Who invented the zero and started it all? A lady asked this by emails. She thought it was either the Aztecs or the Egyptians. As the Egyptians are older perhaps it as them.

Counting farmhands

When giving out jobs the  staff were numbered like this; Foggy, Waggoner, Foddy, Fowt and Tommy-out

There were also different counting words for checking your sheep. Does anyone know those? Ask your grandparents.

 

What are you reminded off by a number

An email from an older person tells us that she is reminded by the no. 1 of no. 1 Marton Road which was the workhouse where the poor people were kept.
