It started back in the 60’s

As far as I recall

Audiences ever since

Have gathered to his call

Whether singing of the Sylki

Or a tin pan alley tune

Mesmerising at the Mintrel,

Banjoing beneath the moon

From Branford down to Bethlehem

His concertina calls

Eisteddfods into churches

Piano fills the halls

Haunting, complex excitement

Bach to Berryman

Laugh and cry, admire

And swift become a fan

Original, traditional

Sometimes a bit of both

The really old songs he just wrote

Are the ones I love the most

You know him when you see him

Love him when you hear

Big voice – Big Red – Big hat

His light is shining clear

Finger-style fantastic

We just can’t get enough

Give a mighty Otley welcome

Here’s our
