I met Ed at Musicport
festival in Whitby. I was compere for the Fringe Festival this year, a
promotion for Link, with Pete and family of Cultural Foundation. Ed did a
great set, mind you he was even better the next time I saw him, and so on and
so on…. He just gets better and … ah .. Unless he has been arrested as a
suspicious citizen by now since his single Happy Christmas Mr Blair came out! Ed likes my poem that much he
went running off to the pavilion to find Tony of Manilla PR “Don’t go away”
he called as he flew out into the wind torn eve, “I will be back.” Sure
enough he was, Tony in tow, I didn’t realise until sometime later as they sat
back and took it all in, my poetry intros that is. Next thing I am being
accosted in the hallway, “Would I come up to Middlesbrough and introduce The
Golden Virgins?” They were on with The Cutters and of course Ed. And the
rest, as they say, is forgotten. Er No History yes History. Here is the poem that started
it all (version two): Come so far To be here To see To say “Happy Christmas!” - “Mr Blair!?” There This Single-arity Fights the fire With faith in self Easily sees The way We are Observed Look Quite naked In all our glory In his eye Get changed today Hear the say He (He is quite biggish) he Is tearing down all walls To be here To be Hear Ed Parrish |
