So, who are the Roy Valenti Band? We are a combination of professional,
semi-professional and keen amateur players. Our 18 piece big band is made up
of:
·
Five
saxophones (alto, tenor and baritone);
·
Four
trumpets;
·
Four
trombones;
·
Drummer,
key boards, guitar and bass; and
·
Vocalist.
We have a large and diverse music library ranging from Elvis Presley’s Blue Suede Shoes to Duke Ellington’s Do Nothing ‘Til You Hear from Me. We play music made famous by bands
such as the Count Basie Big Band and the Glen Miller Orchestra. Our vocal
arrangements include That Old Black Magic, Too Close for Comfort and Teach Me
Tonight. Our favourite arrangements are by Sammy Nestico, Lennie Niehaus and Val
Williams. We meet to rehearse on a Monday night at the Kingwood Village Club in Surrey. While we take our music seriously, we also try to have fun! Here's a sample for you to listen to
We
play at birthday parties, anniversary celebrations, special
occasions and fundraising events and are available for bookings. We will devise our playlist to meet the needs of your event, eg. ballroom/latin dancing, up-tempo, ballads, background music. If you are interested in booking us, please click on 'contact us' and provide a short description of your events and likely requirements. (We generally offer special rates
for charity fundraising events). By the way... we are currently looking to recruit some new trombone players. If you think you would like to join us, please contact us via our website. A number of our members belong to other bands in the area such as The New London Concert Band.
