POWER
FOR PURPOSE
'Now unto him
that is
able
to do
exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the
power that worketh in us,'
Ephesians
3:20 (King
James Version)
For us to fulfill divine purpose as God works
in us and
through
us(Philippians 2:13),we need to examine three vital areas in the light
of God's word.
Firstly let us look at the function of 'asking'.This is highlighted by
the words of Christ in Matthew 7:7-11. It is important to ask according
to His will(1 John 5:14-15) so that we do not ask amiss(James 4:3). We
ask in the name of Jesus(John 16:23-24) and we also ask in faith(James
1:6). What we say with our mouths, that is,our confession should be in
line with what we have received by faith so that it comes to
manifestation(Mark 11:22-24).
Secondly we look at the issue of our 'thinking'. Our thoughts should be
positive(Philippians 4:8) as we regularly focus our minds on the things
of the Spirit(Rom.8:5-6) instead of the things of the flesh or our
natural senses. This is done when we meditate on God's word(Joshua
1:8;Psalm 1:2) with the help of the Holy Spirit. We need God's guidance
in all our planning to fulfill divine destiny for he is 'wonderful in
counsel'(Isaiah 28:29).
Thirdly we look at 'the power' within us as God's children. This power
is in its active form when our 'asking' and thinking' are in agreement
with God and his destiny for each and all of us. The Lord is sovereign
yet he needs us to co-operate with him since he created us as free will
agents! This power is the power of the Holy Spirit(Zech.4:6)! It is
demonstrated when we individually and collectively act with child-like
faith in God and his word within our hearts!!!
But if we are yet to have such awesome power within us,we are
absolutely and awfully powerless to pursue and fulfill divine destiny!
We need to become children of God by being born of God(John 1:12-13) as
we individually receive Christ,'the power of God and the wisdom of
God'(1Cor.1:24) into
our hearts.
'But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, that the excellency of
the power may be of God, and not of us.'
2 Corinthians
4:7 (King
James
Version)
