MEMORY STONES
'And Jacob awaked out of his sleep, and he said, Surely the LORD is in this place; and I knew it not.'
'And he was afraid, and said, How dreadful is this place! this is none other but the house of God, and this is the gate of heaven.'
'And Jacob rose up early in the morning, and took the stone that he had put for his pillows, and set it up for a pillar, and poured oil upon the top of it.'
'And he called the name of that place Bethel: but the name of that city was called Luz at the first.'
'And this stone, which I have set for a pillar, shall be God's house: and of all that thou shalt give me I will surely give the tenth unto thee.'
Genesis 28:16-19,22(KJV)
'Memory stones' are precious memories relevant to divine destiny;memories that need to be recalled always, not just when in trouble!
'Wherefore I will not be negligent to put you always in remembrance of these things, though ye know them, and be established in the present truth.'
'Yea, I think it meet, as long as I am in this tabernacle, to stir you up by putting you in remembrance;'
'Moreover I will endeavour that ye may be able after my decease to have these things always in remembrance.'
2 Peter 1:12,13,15(KJV)
'This second epistle, beloved, I now write unto you; in both which I stir up your pure minds by way of remembrance: '
'That ye may be mindful of the words which were spoken before by the holy prophets, and of the commandment of us the apostles of the Lord and Saviour:'
2 Peter 3:1-2(KJV)
These memories should be set up and preserved as 'stones' in the field of one's mind as a pilgrim on the journey of divine destiny.
The Holy Spirit helps to recall such memories as one remains sensitive and yielded to Him:
'But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.'
John 14:26(KJV)
'And the people came up out of Jordan on the tenth day of the first month, and encamped in Gilgal, in the east border of Jericho.'
'And those twelve stones, which they took out of Jordan, did Joshua pitch in Gilgal.'
'And he spake unto the children of Israel, saying, When your children shall ask their fathers in time to come, saying, What mean these stones?'
'Then ye shall let your children know, saying, Israel came over this Jordan on dry land.'
'For the LORD your God dried up the waters of Jordan from before you, until ye were passed over, as the LORD your God did to the Red sea, which he dried up from before us, until we were gone over:'
'That all the people of the earth might know the hand of the LORD, that it is mighty: that ye might fear the LORD your God for ever.'
Joshua 4:19-24(KJV)
The memories include those of the Lord's deliverance especially when one experienced the new birth through Jesus Christ who is now one's personal Lord and Saviour (2 Cor.5:17-21).
'And Joshua wrote these words in the book of the law of God, and took a great stone, and set it up there under an oak, that was by the sanctuary of the LORD.'
'And Joshua said unto all the people, Behold, this stone shall be a witness unto us; for it hath heard all the words of the LORD which he spake unto us: it shall be therefore a witness unto you, lest ye deny your God.'
Joshua 24:26-27(KJV)
Other memories are those of when one individually or corporately made some commitment to the Lord.
'And Samuel took a sucking lamb, and offered it for a burnt offering wholly unto the LORD: and Samuel cried unto the LORD for Israel; and the LORD heard him.'
'And as Samuel was offering up the burnt offering, the Philistines drew near to battle against Israel: but the LORD thundered with a great thunder on that day upon the Philistines, and discomfited them; and they were smitten before Israel.'
'And the men of Israel went out of Mizpeh, and pursued the Philistines, and smote them, until they came under Bethcar.'
'Then Samuel took a stone, and set it between Mizpeh and Shen, and called the name of it Ebenezer, saying, Hitherto hath the LORD helped us.'
1 Samuel 7:9-12(KJV)
Spiritual amnesia or forgetfulness is absolutely dangerous to any pilgrim on the journey of divine destiny in all circumstances!!!
The Lord our Healer has sent his word in unconditional love through this article to anyone and everyone who suffer from such illness (Psalm 107:20)
It is always good to remember who God through Christ is to oneself;and who one is in Christ so as to enhance one's love walk with the Lord,a walk of true faith!
This provokes one's thanksgiving, praise, and worship unto the Lord (Eph.5:19-20,Col.3:16-17)!
Such memories are based on and revealed through God's word kept within the pilgrim's heart:-
'My son, attend to my words; incline thine ear unto my sayings.'
'Let them not depart from thine eyes; keep them in the midst of thine heart.'
Proverbs 4:20-21(KJV)
On the other hand, there are things that need to be forgotten (such as those that carry guilt, bitterness,or pride) so that other things can be grasped (Philippians 3:13)!
'Only take heed to thyself, and keep thy soul diligently, lest thou forget the things which thine eyes have seen, and lest they depart from thy heart all the days of thy life: but teach them thy sons, and thy sons' sons;'
Deut.4:19(KJV)
'Take heed unto yourselves, lest ye forget the covenant of the LORD your God, which he made with you, and make you a graven image, or the likeness of any thing, which the LORD thy God hath forbidden thee.'
Deut.4:23(KJV)
'Then beware lest thou forget the LORD, which brought thee forth out of the land of Egypt, from the house of bondage.'
Deut.6:12(KJV)
The warnings to keep such 'memory stones' in one's mind come from our loving Lord who is willing and able to bring each pilgrim to a glorious end of the journey!
'For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the LORD, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end.'
Jeremiah 29:11(KJV)
