KINGS OF KING
Revelation
1(KJV)
verse
4 "John to the
seven churches which are in Asia: Grace be unto you, and peace, from
him which is, and which was, and which is to come; and from the seven
Spirits which are before his throne;"
verse
5 "And from Jesus Christ, who is the faithful witness, and the first
begotten of the dead, and the prince of the kings of the earth. Unto
him that loved us, and washed us from our sins in his own blood,"
verse 6 "And hath made us kings and priests unto God and his Father; to
him be glory and dominion for ever and ever. Amen."
The title of this article
might have been more attractive if it had read 'KING OF KINGS’. But
before making a rash judgement that it is just another piece of heresy,
let us proceed from a central point of common agreement. To every real
Christian, Jesus Christ who is our personal Lord and
Saviour deserves the royal title of 'KING OF KINGS' and 'LORD OF
LORDS'(1 Tim 6:15, Rev.19:16).
When we examine the title
'KING OF KINGS' we easily deduce that Jesus Christ possesses a kingship
and kingdom that surpasses that of any king that lived, that lives, and
that will live throughout human history.
Daniel 2(KJV)
verse
44 "And in the days
of these kings shall the God of heaven set up a kingdom, which shall
never be destroyed: and the kingdom shall not be left to other people,
but it shall break in pieces and consume all these kingdoms, and it
shall stand for ever."
Isaiah 9(KJV)
verse
6 "For unto us a
child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon
his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The
mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace."
verse
7 "Of the increase of his government and peace there shall be no end,
upon the throne of David, and upon his kingdom, to order it, and to
establish it with judgment and with justice from henceforth even for
ever. The zeal of the LORD of hosts will perform this."
Yet we can go further to
identify another class of 'kings'-those who reign in life by Jesus
Christ:
Romans 5(KJV)
verse
17 "For if by one man's offence death reigned by one; much more they
which receive abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness shall
reign in life by one, Jesus Christ."
These persons begin to
reign by being born into God's kingdom:
John 3(KJV)
verse 3
"Jesus answered
and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be
born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God."
verse
4 "Nicodemus saith unto him, How can a man be born when he is old? can
he enter the second time into his mother's womb, and be born?"
verse 5 "Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man
be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of
God."
verse 6 "That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is
born of the Spirit is spirit."
verse 7 "Marvel not that I said unto thee, Ye must be born again."
verse 8 "The wind bloweth where it listeth, and thou hearest the sound
thereof, but canst not tell whence it cometh, and whither it goeth: so
is every one that is born of the Spirit."
These are those whose
hearts have been cleansed by the blood of the Lamb (Rev.1:5).It is
these hearts in which reigns the Lord Jesus Christ.Between the Lord and
these peculair people is a covenant relationship like that between a
sovereign king and vassal kings. This covenant ensures and demands that
the 'kings' are faithful to the King just as He is faithful to them:
Jeremiah 31(KJV)
verse 31
"Behold, the
days come, saith the LORD, that I will make a new covenant with the
house of Israel, and with the house of Judah:"
verse
32 "Not according to the covenant that I made with their fathers in the
day that I took them by the hand to bring them out of the land of
Egypt; which my covenant they brake, although I was an husband unto
them, saith the LORD:"
verse 33 "But this shall be the covenant that I will make with the
house of Israel; After those days, saith the LORD, I will put my law in
their inward parts, and write it in their hearts; and will be their
God, and they shall be my people."
verse 34 "And they shall teach no more every man his neighbour, and
every man his brother, saying, Know the LORD: for they shall all know
me, from the least of them unto the greatest of them, saith the LORD:
for I will forgive their iniquity, and I will remember their sin no
more."
Faithfulness is expected
by the King in these areas:-
- Celebrating the
King(Psalm 93-100)-worship;
- Proclaiming the
King(Isa.52:7)-evangelism;&
- Demonstrating the King
(Rom.5:17, Matt.5-7)-kingdom life.
These kings have the
authority of the King to rule on the earth. It is by the wisdom of
God that they rule (Prov.8:15).And Jesus Christ is the wisdom of
God (1 Cor.1:24).The Lord is even greater than Solomon (Luke 11:31).It
is His authority (Matt 28:18, Mark 16:17-18, & Luke 10:19) that
they exercise on His behalf in each of the territories where He has
placed each of them. Each king is not in unhealthful competition with
any other king (2 Cor.10:12) but complements any other king as members
of the body of Christ (1 Cor.12:12).
Both the kingship and
priesthood of the saints make up their calling in Christ Jesus
(Rev.1:6, 5:10).
Action plan:
1.
Believe that you are who
God says you are.
2. Believe that you have
what God says that you have.
3.
Believe that you can do
what God says you can do.
4. Then take action as led
by the Spirit of God!!!
