FORTITUDE OF GRATITUDE

‘But mark this: There will be terrible times in the last days.’
‘People will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boastful, proud, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy,’
‘without love, unforgiving, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not lovers of the good,’
‘treacherous, rash, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God-’
‘having a form of godliness but denying its power. Have nothing to do with them.’
2 Tim.3:1-5(NIV)

We live in the last days in which ingratitude is clearly demonstrated as one of the signs of godlessness among mankind!
This is in contrast to gratitude or thankfulness which is one of the signs of true godliness in the lives of those who believe on Jesus Christ as Lord and Saviour!
The Lord Jesus Christ our best example practiced and appreciated gratitude!
‘He told the crowd to sit down on the ground. When he had taken the seven loaves and given thanks, he broke them and gave them to his disciples to set before the people, and they did so.’
Mark 8:6(NIV)

‘So they took away the stone. Then Jesus looked up and said, "Father, I thank you that you have heard me.’
John 11:41(NIV)

‘He threw himself at Jesus' feet and thanked him—and he was a Samaritan.’
‘Was no one found to return and give praise to God except this foreigner?"’
Luke 17:16, 18(NIV)

Paul the apostle also followed the steps of the Master.
‘After he said this, he took some bread and gave thanks to God in front of them all. Then he broke it and began to eat.’
Acts 27:35(NIV)

Gratitude is a good attitude that fortifies the heart on the inside when the pilgrim faces adverse circumstances on the outside. It keeps summertime within even when it is winter without!
‘give thanks in all circumstances, for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus.’
1 Thess. 5:18(NIV)

"Nehemiah said, "Go and enjoy choice food and sweet drinks, and send some to those who have nothing prepared. This day is sacred to our Lord. Do not grieve, for the joy of the LORD is your strength.""
Nehemiah 8:10(NIV)

"A cheerful heart is good medicine, but a crushed spirit dries up the bones."
Prov.17:22(NIV)

It is the hand that turns on the pump of joy that draws out from the wells of salvation!
"With joy you will draw water from the wells of salvation."
Isaiah 12:3(NIV)

It is even part of the business conducted in heaven!
‘Whenever the living creatures give glory, honor and thanks to him who sits on the throne and who lives for ever and ever,’
Rev.4:9(NIV)

'All the angels were standing around the throne and around the elders and the four living creatures. They fell down on their faces before the throne and worshiped God,'
'saying:
"Amen!
Praise and glory
and wisdom and thanks and honor
and power and strength
be to our God for ever and ever.
Amen!"'
Revelation 7:11-12(NIV)

"Enter his gates with thanksgiving and his courts with praise;give thanks to him and praise his name."
Psalms 100:4(NIV)

From the negative testimony of God’s people who were ungrateful (1 Cor.10:10), it must be very important!
It makes one free from anxiety which chokes the sown Word of God within (Luke 8:14) ensuring the fruitfulness of the latter!

There should be gratitude for answered prayer, portraying faith in our good and great loving Father, thus provoking the miraculous.
‘So they took away the stone. Then Jesus looked up and said, "Father, I thank you that you have heard me.’
John 11:41(NIV)

‘This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to his will, he hears us.’
‘And if we know that he hears us-whatever we ask-we know that we have what we asked of him.’
1 John 5:14-15(NIV)

"Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God."
Philippians 4:6(NIV)

There should be gratitude for victory for each and every battle of life.
‘But thanks be to God, who always leads us in triumphal procession in Christ and through us spreads everywhere the fragrance of the knowledge of him.’
2 Cor.2:14(NIV)

'But thanks be to God! He gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.'
1 Cor.15:57(NIV)

There should be gratitude for the children of God who are all pilgrims on the journey of divine destiny.
‘In that hour Jesus rejoiced in spirit, and said, I thank thee, O Father, Lord of heaven and earth, that thou hast hid these things from the wise and prudent, and hast revealed them unto babes: even so, Father; for so it seemed good in thy sight.’
Luke 10:21(KJV)

'We always thank God for all of you, mentioning you in our prayers.'
1 Thessalonians 1:2(NIV)

There should be gratitude for all miracles and blessings received and witnessed in Christ.
‘He threw himself at Jesus' feet and thanked him—and he was a Samaritan.’
‘Was no one found to return and give praise to God except this foreigner?"’
Luke 17:16, 18(NIV)

'Then celebrate the Feast of Weeks to the LORD your God by giving a freewill offering in proportion to the blessings the LORD your God has given you.'
Duet.16:10(NIV)

'By him therefore let us offer the sacrifice of praise to God continually, that is, the fruit of our lips giving thanks to his name.'
Heb.13:15(KJV)

Gratitude gives fortitude in every pilgrim on the journey of divine destiny to shine out in a dark and ungodly world!
‘rooted and built up in him, strengthened in the faith as you were taught, and overflowing with thankfulness.’
Colossians 2:7 (NIV)

‘Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since as members of one body you were called to peace. And be thankful.’
Colossians 3:15 (NIV)

‘Devote yourselves to prayer, being watchful and thankful.’
Colossians 4:2 (NIV)

‘Therefore, since we are receiving a kingdom that cannot be shaken, let us be thankful, and so worship God acceptably with reverence and awe,’
Hebrews 12:28 (NIV)
