DREAMTALK 4
Job 33:14-18(KJV)
"For God speaketh once,
yea twice, yet man perceiveth it not."
"In a dream, in a vision
of the night, when deep sleep falleth upon
men, in slumberings upon the bed; "
"Then he openeth the ears
of men, and sealeth their instruction,"
"That he may withdraw man
from his purpose, and hide pride from man."
"He keepeth back his soul
from the pit, and his life from perishing by
the sword."
1 Chron.4:9-10(KJV)
"And Jabez was more
honourable than his brethren: and his mother called
his name Jabez, saying, Because I bare him with sorrow."
"And Jabez called on the
God of Israel, saying, Oh that thou wouldest
bless me indeed, and enlarge my coast, and that thine hand might be
with me, and that thou wouldest keep me from evil, that it may not
grieve me! And God granted him that which he requested."
After a hectic day at college, the dreamer went to bed and had the
following dream:
The dreamer found himself in a rowing boat at the oars rowing the
boat on a slowly flowing river with two female passengers on board, the
older was 'the matron' and the younger was 'the ward' both engaged in a
deep conversation which he listened eagerly to:-
The matron:'Considering divine destiny(this is the golden dream which
God has for an individual, family, community and/or nation),what do we
learn from 1 Chronicles chapter 4 verses 9-10?'
The ward:'The short text is about a man called Jabez, whose story pops
up in the middle of the genealogy of the tribe of Judah.'
The matron:'He must
have
been a covenant child of God who prayed to his God concerning his
divine destiny!
The ward:'Anyone can become a covenant child of God by repenting from
one's sins, and receiving the Lord Jesus Christ as one's personal Lord
and Saviour!'
The matron:'Could you please mention the four parts of Jabez's prayer?'
The ward:'In his prayer,he asked for divine blessings upon his life.'
The matron:'Covenant blessings are not an end in themselves, but they
are a means to the end which is the fulfilment of divine destiny. And
the Lord is the ultimate Source of blessings for all His children!'
The ward:'He then asked for divine enlargement.'
The matron:'Enlargement involves the breaking of limitations that seem
to 'cage' one's divine destiny.A limitation is anything that hinders
one's spiritual progress or growth!'
The ward:'He also prayed for divine presence.'
The matron:'When God marks out the path of destiny a person should
take,He is willing to accompany and help that person throughout the
journey.Without Him,the traveller is totally lonely and absolutely
helpless on the journey of destiny!'
The ward:'He finally prayed for divine deliverance.'
The matron:'Any form or degree or guise or amount of evil is always
against any one's divine destiny.Sin and its horrible consequences such
as poverty, crime, and sickness are evil. Man's sinful nature within him
is evil. The devil and the ungodly world system he controls are evil.'
The ward:'If God answered his prayer under the old covenant, would He
not much more answer any child of His under the new covenant so that
the latter can fulfill her or his divine destiny.'
The matron;'While Jabez's prayer is not 'a magic formula',it is a good
model for anyone who needs to distinguish herself or himself to the
glory of God by fulfilling the golden dream which God has for her or
him! Even if the person comes from a very sad and bad background just
like Jabez!!!'
Just then both ladies turned simultaneously to the dreamer and
asked,'What can you add to this discussion?!'
As the dreamer was about to answer the ladies he woke up!!!
