DAY
OF DESTINY
John
9:4(KJV)
I
must work the works of him that
sent me,
while it is day: the night cometh, when no man can work."
Throughout human history, different kinds of works have been done in
various ways but the following questions shall be examined:-
What works are really worth it?
What time in any person's life can such works be done?
In the opening text above are the answers to these important questions
to be found!
Firstly,it is only the works of God our Creator that are worth being
done all other works however great or popular are dead works!!!
Even when God's works are not done in God's ways they become dead!
Dead works cannot survive the heat of the day of judgement(1 Cor.3:13).
Therefore there is no real reward for dead works from the Lord, for everyone's works shall be judged by
God(Rev.20:11-13;2 Cor.5:10)!
The right kind of works for anyone and everyone has been discoursed in
an earlier article 'WORKS
4 U'.
Secondly, these works are to be done while it is day (John
9:4).
The period of daytime in a person's lifetime is known as 'the day of
destiny'.
'The day of destiny' is the appointed time in a person's life to do the
works of God who sent him or her to this world.
Everyone
has been made and sent by God to serve His wonderful plans and purposes.
But everyone born
into this world is separated from God by sin(Rom.3:23).
Therefore everyone in
sin lives and walks in spiritual darkness which is an awful state
wherein no-one can do the works of God(John 3:19).
This was and is the prime reason for Jesus Christ the Son of God to
come into this world to die for the sins of everyone(Rom.5:8).
Based on this ultimate sacrifice, everyone is now offered the personal invitation
to come to Jesus Christ to receive him as personal Lord and Saviour as
an individual(Acts 8:27-39);or with one's household(Acts16:31-34);or
with one's household and friends(Acts 10:24).
This gracious offer is based on the personal revelation and
promises of the Lord himself as stated in the two scriptures below:-
John 8:12(KJV)
"Then spake Jesus again unto them, saying, I am the
light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness,
but shall have the light of life."
John 1:9(KJV)
"That was the true Light, which lighteth every man
that cometh into the world."
All who
have stand on God's word of salvation become children of the light, and
children of the day:-
1 Thess.5:5(KJV)
"Ye are all the children of light, and the children
of the day: we are not of the night, nor of darkness."
This heavenly call to salvation in the Lord is very urgent to everyone alive today as
heralded below:-
2 Cor.6:2(KJV)
"(For he saith, I have heard thee in a time
accepted, and in the day of salvation have I succoured thee: behold,
now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation.)"
All who
humbly answer this call graciously enter into 'the day of destiny'!!!
Anyone who enters into 'the day of destiny' should carry a noble sense
of responsibility and urgency just like the lord Jesus Christ(John 9:4).
