CAPSTONE OF LIFE

Psalm 118:22
The stone the builders rejected has become the capstone;

Isaiah 8:14
and he will be a sanctuary; but for both houses of Israel he will be a stone that causes men to stumble and a rock that makes them fall. And for the people of Jerusalem he will be a trap and a snare.

Isaiah 28:16
So this is what the Sovereign LORD says: "See, I lay a stone in Zion, a tested stone, a precious cornerstone for a sure foundation; the one who trusts will never be dismayed.

Matthew 21:42, 44
Jesus said to them, "Have you never read in the Scriptures: " 'The stone the builders rejected has become the capstone; the Lord has done this, and it is marvelous in our eye’s?
He who falls on this stone will be broken to pieces, but he on whom it falls will be crushed."

In life, there are many who go from the cradle to the grave without purpose because they have lived without building.
There are others who are engaged in building but reject the very Stone through which divine purpose is achieved.
Their act of 'building' is the pursuit of their purposes using their own resources!
The Stone is rejected because they believe that He does not and cannot fit into whatever they are building!
This belief is actually unbelief in the Stone who He has revealed Himself to be!
But the rejected Stone has become the capstone of life!

Acts 4:11
He is “‘the stone you builders rejected, which has become the capstone.’

Romans 9:32-33
Why not? Because they pursued it not by faith but as if it were by works. They stumbled over the "stumbling stone."
As it is written: "See, I lay in Zion a stone that causes men to stumble and a rock that makes them fall, and the one who trusts in him will never be put to shame."

Jesus Christ is the capstone of life chosen by God who is the Architect of our lives.
As Architect, in His unconditional love and infinite wisdom He has made a master plan for every person or people.
That master building plan (the blueprint)is known as divine destiny.
According to that master plan, there is a significant central space in our lives can only be filled by the capstone of life.
When one turns away from one’s own way of ‘building’ (repentance) and puts one’s trust in the Stone, the Lord Jesus Christ (faith), He becomes the capstone of one’s life (Acts 20:21).
As one comes to the Stone ashamed of pursuing one’s own way of building, one will never ashamed to stay with God's way of building!

Once the capstone of life is in place in one’s heart, every other part of the ‘building’ of the person(s) gets into place over a period of time.
This process advances as one continually trusts in the capstone of life and is delayed or disrupted if and when one gets back into unbelief!
During the process, one encounters challenges which one overcomes by faith (1 John 5 :4) motivated by the love of God (Gal.5:6) towards, within and through one's person.
One's divine master plan is read with the help of the Holy Spirit (John 14:26) through the written word of God (2 Tim.3:16-17).
The Holy Spirit also empowers one for building (Zech.4:6).
The completion of the ‘building’ is the fulfillment of one’s divine destiny (Philippians 1:6).

All believers in Christ Jesus the capstone of life are the sons of God (John 1:12-13).
The community of the sons of God is a spiritual house made up of ‘living stones’.
The ‘completion’ of this house is the fulfillment of the corporate divine destiny of the church of Jesus Christ on earth.
The building of this house involves the Son of God, the capstone of life in partnership with all His sons (1 Cor.3:9).

1 Peter 2:4-8
[The Living Stone and a Chosen People] As you come to him, the living Stone-rejected by men but chosen by God and precious to him-
you also, like living stones, are being built into a spiritual house to be a holy priesthood, offering spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ.
For in Scripture it says: "See, I lay a stone in Zion, a chosen and precious cornerstone, and the one who trusts in him will never be put to shame."
Now to you who believe, this stone is precious. But to those who do not believe, "The stone the builders rejected has become the capstone,”
and, "A stone that causes men to stumble and a rock that makes them fall." They stumble because they disobey the message-which is also what they were destined for.
