A new training tool for dental professionals

Our aim

Utilising actors and dentists as training tools, Dental Roleplay provides a safe and constructive environment in which dental professionals can experiment with different approaches to patient and staff interaction, without judgement or expectation.

Dental Roleplay is a series of corporate roleplay workshops devised and delivered by Healthcare Interact, a corporate roleplay company devised and facilitated by professional actor/dental surgeon Dr Adam Porter BDS BSc. (Hons) and delivered with professional actor/educator Hannah O'Leary, along with other acting colleagues.

Adam Porter acts under the stage-name Adam Timms (Equity name).

Dental Roleplay has provided its unique brand of training in-house for over 150 dental practices in Wales.

Dental Roleplay has provided communication skills workshops for all of Wales' Dental Foundation Training Schemes, as well as GPT and Equivalence training groups.

Testimonies

"This programme is extremely valuable, as it helps dentists meet one of the core continuing professional development requirements to the General Dental Council. From experience, I can strongly recommend this programme where an educational day is enjoyed by the whole team." Andrew Matthews, Primary Care Dental Practice Adviser for South East Wales, Vocational Training Adviser for West Wales

"Thank you and your team for delivering an excellent course for us up at Prince Charles Hospital yesterday. The feedback we had from the participants scored highly. We look forward to seeing you again soon." Lynne O'Sullivan, Clinical Skills Dental Nurse and GPT Secretary

"Thanks for a really good day. I was personally impressed by the quality of the acting, and the response sheets of the group were very appreciative of your efforts. As you know, Friday on the Marches scheme can be a grave-yard spot, but Dental Roleplay kept them involved all day." Nigel Jones, Vocational Training Adviser for Marches Scheme, Wales

"Thanks ever so much for delivering the course at the practice yesterday - I spoke to all the girls after you left and they really enjoyed it, despite any initial reservations about participating!" Bryan Webber, General Dental Surgeon and Vocational Training Adviser for Central Wales
