Shortcuts
My PC has been frozen for 5 minutes, how do I restart it?

Press CTRL+ALT+DEL and kill off one program at a time (starting with the programs that are not responding) until the computer comes back to life.

If this does not work then CTRL+ALT+DEL a few times gets you out of most situations. If the machine is really not responding then you can hold the power button in for 5 seconds to force a shutdown. Failing that, turn it off at the wall. Run a scandisk when the computer restarts.

If the computer freezes often then it has a problem that needs to be fixed. It could be hardware, such as an overheating problem, or it could be software. If the problem started recently then try uninstalling the last program you installed.

"Help! Sometimes when I drag files with the mouse to move them, it copies them?"

If you drag files onto another partition or harddrive it will copy them, however if it is on the same partition it will move them. Also executables are not moved, shortcuts are made from them, the reasoning being Windows generally likes them to stay where they were installed.

The best method to copy/move is to RIGHT-CLICK and DRAG, then you get a menu and can decide if you want a copy or to move them, or even to make a shortcut.

Each time you use the menu try to learn a shortcut.
