My Memories.

I had an Amstrad CPC464. It was a competitor to the Spectrum and the Commodore 64. We thought it was the superior machine, but I don't want to start any arguments about that now. It had a tape deck built in which I would have to adjust with a screwdriver to make certain tapes load. It also came with a colour monitor (or b&w for £100 less) from where it got it's power. It had 64kb of memory( kilobytes not megabytes!) and only about 40k was useable because the rest was used by the system! It had a fantastic version of BASIC blah blah.

The Emulator.

The emulator I currently recommend is CAPRICE32.

Quick Start - play a game with minimum fuss.

Download CAPRICE.ZIP and unzip it, then run CAPRICE32 (no need to install anything).

Quick Start Keys

F5=Reset CPC

F6=Insert Disk.

F8=Options

F12=Max Speed / Normal Speed (Togle)

So, Insert a disk (F6), type CAT to see what is on the disk, then type RUN "BLAGGER to run the file

These are some of the games that I remember playing.They all seem to work and they are included in this download.

BLAGGER

BLAGGER

One of the first computer games we ever had, so we played it to death. In Manic Miner style you jump around the screen collecting the keys and then get to the safe before the time runs out. You have to be pixel perfect. I think we only managed to get half way through this game.

Red Moon

I really liked the company Level 9. Their adventure games were fun. This was one of their last games, they released it in a smaller box at a reduced price. I remember it being a bit easy.

Return to Eden

The first Level 9 game I had. It is the last of a trilogy, and I never quite finished it. I bought it by accident really, I had bought a flight simulator which turned out to be awful. My brother had to go to hospital to have his appendix removed., so I took the opportunity to go to Guildford to visit him and take the game back. My dad came with me, that's right. I made him say he had already bought the game so they changed it for us. I just took the first game I saw.

Keys.

Shift=scroll more text

Spy Trek

Don't remember much about this adventure except it was quite fun. You wake in a coffin.

The Wild Bunch

Simple Western game, controlled mostly by selecting menus.

I will add more games to the above bundle when I get the time, especially important is working out the controls for the games.

In the meantime here are all the other games I have downloaded for the CPC...

CPC_GamesPack-A = games I remember playing (0.8 mb)

(GamesPack-A includes such classics as Arkanoid, Darkstar, Elite, Way of the Exploding Fist, Gauntlet, Harrier Attack, Get Dexter, Harvey Headbanger, Highway Encounter, HunterKiller, Sorcery)

CPC GamesPack-B = games other people have recommended. (3.1 mb)

Looking for other CPC software ?

Go here for a great FTP site of software for the Amstrad CPC

Simply download the files and unzip them into the DISK folder.
