Nick Cameron is a pilot for hire, who unwittingly brings some bomb grade plutonium into the country. He is sentenced to twenty-five years in jail, and it looks like he's going to stay there as his appeal isn't going well. While in prison he is offered the chance to take part in some medical research into suntans, to which he agrees.

He's taken to an Institute and after a week of experiments, a shattered Nick is returned to prison. However funny things start to happen, and while in the shower, he becomes invisible! He manages to escape jail, and with the help of his solicitor, Alice Grant, and his brother Joe, tries to find out what has happened to him.

The Institute, were in fact conducting experiments to try and make a person invisible. They have succeeded on wood metal and plastic, but have yet to make a whole person invisible. Their previous attempt went wrong, and the man now wears a mask and gloves at all times. Unfortunately for Nick the Institute learns that their experiment did work, and want him back to find out why. However they believe that Nick is permanently invisible (which he isn't, he seems to fade in and out) and so they kidnap Alice to draw him out.

Realising that when ever he comes into contact with water he turns invisible, Nick comes up with a rescue plan with the help of Joe. Disguised as Nick, Joe (complete with mask and gloves etc.) meets with the people from the Institute while Nick stands beside him (while invisible) and does all the talking. They are driven to the institute, where Nick rescues Alice, and Joe fights his way out! Alas half way through, Nick suddenly fades back in! With nothing to wear, he borrows a baggy shirt, and they (Alice & Nick) escape to the basement.

In the basement are a number of previous experiments on objects which appear to fade in and out. Nick finds the suit he was in, when they experimented on him, and puts it on. They also find a motorbike, and break out! Alas on the way home it starts raining, and poor Alice looks like she is floating down the road as both Nick the suit and the bike disappear!

A few days later a detective shows up at Alice Grant's firm. He is looking into prisoners being use for experiments, and has made a number of arrests. However it is a sensitive investigation, and agrees to forget Nick's record, if he keeps his mouth shut.

Alice and Nick are now seen teaming up in order to help win her legal cases! The program ends with the sound of a motorbike coming up a country lane, but nothing can be seen. Then a couple of puddles suddenly seem to splash, as if a motorbike went through them...! <
