Open Days

Churchill Forge is opened to the public on selected dates through the summer. Normally the first open day is held on Easter Monday and thereafter the forge is open on the second Sunday of each month until October. Special full weekend openings are held in May and September to mark National Mills Weekend and Heritage Open Days respectively.

The planned programme of open days for 2010 is as follows:

On open days, the forge is open from 2pm to 5pm (last admission 4:30pm) and a small admission charge is made to contribute towards the restoration and maintenance of the site.

Please also note that:

Access to the main areas of the forge is by a flight of steep steps and the floors of the working area are uneven. Disabled access is therefore very limited.

There are no toilet facilities at the site.

A range of souvenirs are available at the forge including technical drawings, postcards and souvenir coffee mugs.

How to Find Churchill Forge

The Forge Pool and Sluice Gate

Churchill Forge is located in the village of Churchill in North Worcestershire, just off the A456 (Kidderminster to Hagley Road). The entrance to the forge is a short distance along a drive off the minor road that runs past Churchill village church. It is about 400 meters beyond the church when coming from the direction of Blakedown, shortly before the crossroads in the centre of Churchill village. It is clearly signposted on open days. The nearest railway station is at Blakedown (approximately one mile away) from which trains run regularly to Stourbridge and Birmingham and to Kidderminster and Worcester. The forge can be found on Ordnance Survey Maps at grid reference: SO882795.

Visitors arriving by car should note that there is no parking space available along the drive to the forge and they are therefore recommended to park on the road.
