Links

The plan for this area of the site is to provide links to other, related, sites that you might be interested in visiting such as sites related to mills and water wheels or sites with information on other features of interest in the Churchill area.

If you have any suggestions for sites that it would be worth adding to the list please drop me an e-mail at adam@churchillforge.org.uk

Local community websites well worth a visit include the Churchill and Blakedown website, the  Chaddesley Corbett website and the Hagley Village website.

If you are interested in other mills (wind and water) in the area, visit the Midland Wind and Water Mills Group website.

Midland Mills Open is another good place to look for information on mills in the midlands of England

Anyone interested in historic buildings should visit the Avoncroft Museum near Bromsgrove

Other British mills with their own web sites that I've managed to find are:

·        Finch Foundary, a working water powered foundary in Devon which is run by the National Trust

·        Gleaston Water Mill, a flour mill which is up there in lovely Cumbria

·        Little Salkeld Watermill, which is also a flour mill and also in Cumbria and has some excellent photos of the mill on the site

·        Shepsted Watermill, another flour mill, this one being located near Kegworth in Leicestershire.

I’m also endebted to Andrew Borland for alerting me to the following:

·        Whitemill in Dorset

·        The River Lea Tidal Mill, Bromley by Bow, London

·        Windmill World which has a comprehensive list of links to other mill related sites of all types

·        The industrial archaeology recordings website also has a list of mill related sites

Also Recommended is Claymills Victorian Pumping Station near Burton upon Trent

Finally, thanks to Ken Head for making me aware of the following sites in the area around Cobham in Surrey:
·        Cobham Mill a19th century corn mill which has been restored  to working order
·        Painshill Park, an award-winning restored 18th century. landscape garden. The Park has a magnificent Bramah water wheel 35 ft diameter dating from about 1835, which pumps water up from the River Mole to the artificial lake, about 12 ft higher than the river.
