The 16 track album from the recently reformed band captures their grinding hardcore songs-DeathCamp/Pylons/Nazis Killed /Afrikkaan Beggar etc-plus the later metal stuff.Combining anti-fascist politics with a ferocious new form of punk inspired grinding hardcore music HELLBASTARD  emerged from the late 80s punk/metal crossover scene alongside NAPALM DEATH and EXTREME NOISE TERROR.Formed after a SUBHUMANS gig and inspired by the ideals of CRASS and music of SLAYER they were once described by Kerrang magazine as the "poorest band on earth".Vocalist Scruff was previously in London punk band The Apostles but left to pursue his preferred musical path.Hellbastard and their fans were an alarming sight,but the massive wall of guitars which characterized their early music shows they were ahead of  their time.Unlike certain inferior mp3 versions this is the official release complete with a full colour booklet with views & memories from Hellbastard members.

Quaintly named Geordie quartet HELLBASTARD are "the poorest band on this fuckin' earth" according to singer/guitarist Scruff .But to their former mates this ripping,moshing band are "pop stars".

Interview with MORAT (Kerrang)

There is a call from a rather nervous sounding receptionist  here at K! Towers to say that Hellbastard have arrived and are making the lobby look untidy.

The security chaps are eyeing them with all the suspicion of a stockbroker having his wages counted by a Kings Cross  wino who's down to his last mouthful.It's just too hot to argue so we retreat to the pub across the road.The barman  refuses  to serve us.

After the last LP Hellbastard seemed to be changing  direction;heading away from their punk roots to a more metal sound. "I suppose we are concedes Scruff.Punk is our roots and we'll never forget that but if you're different, if you  try to be original and you're involved in punk from years ago punks around here still slag you off."

Isn't that just other folks  being narrow minded? It can't be that much of a problem.

"It bothers me," frowns Scruff. "All these hardcore people  who used to know us from years ago now they just  dismiss us as being metal wankers. 'Pop stars' they call us! Pop stars!"

I must admit that I've never had a pop star picking my dog ends out of the ashtray to smoke them,which is what this bunch have  been doing.

"We must be the poorest band on this fuckin' earth" announces  Scruff as he lights my last cigarette.
