How you can Help

    Welcome to the second issued of my newsletter about my intended walk to the West Country in May.  I have decided to give my walk an official name, "THE WALK 2K01".

    PENNIWELLS
    After careful consideration I have decided on Penniwells as my preferred charity.  For anyone who does not know, Penniwells is a riding Centre for the disabled. Established in 1980 Penniwells currently has 15 horses and ponies and is used by as many as 130 riders each week.  I hope to visit Penniwells within the next couple of weeks to learn more about the valuable work done.

    LETTER FROM WENDY
    Following a suggestion that I try to rope in a celebrity to have some involvement with  the walk, I wrote to Wendy Richard (star of Eastenders). I received a reply from Ms Richard last week sending her best wishes for the walk.  Alas due to increased work commitments as a result of Eastenders doing an extra weekly episode she is unable to participate in the walk.  If anyone knows any celebrities please pass the word.

    THE ROUTE
    Although the route still has to be fine tuned the basic idea and schedule have now been decided on. If anyone has any comments, please let me know. One suggestion so far was to extend the walk to Weston-S-Mare to make it more meaningful.

    WHAT CAN I DO TO HELP?
    Since my first newsletter the most popular question I have been asked is "what can I  do to help?"

    Obviously the biggest help would be to join me for part of the walk or even just come along on Sunday May 6th to give myself and the other walkers a good send off. If you would like to join me for part of the walk, even if only for a couple of miles, let me know and I can give you more details. I have already had a couple of people say they will do the whole walk.

    Depending on numbers taking part I could be looking for volunteers (twisting a few arms) to transport rucksacks from one guest house to another.

    Sponsorship forms will be coming around in April, so get ready to sign up.  Please pass the word to family and friends.

    If anyone feels they could write a piece for In-House or the local papers please do. But please do NOT do this in works time.  I don't want Keith chasing me.
