Huddersfield Town 3
Stoke City 1
Reported by Michael Shaw
At last a WIN. However poorly they are playing away, Town
seem to be developing a definite pattern and confidence at home.
It would be difficult to fault a single player. Vince missed a couple
of catches but also made a couple of good saves, and his distribution
as usual was v good. Jenkins actually had a good game, and Edmundson
was far more effective than Ryan, especially coming forward.
Morrison's long range passing was absolutely on the button, and
Dyson and Grey were secure for most of the match (I thought Dyson
should have closed down the Stoke goal scorer before he shot).
Horne had a very good game, and Richardson took his goal brilliantly.
Lawson came on at half time and made a big difference. He actually
gave us some ariel presence and pace. Stewart worked as hard as
anyone on the pitch and his goal must give him a deal of confidence.
Edmundson and Morrsion shared MOTM for me, but Dalton, for sheer
individual brilliance shone out. It was just like Hurst in the 90th
min of the '66 World Cup final all over again. Dalton picks the ball
up 20 yards outside his own penalty area, runs down the Riverside side
of the pitch with a Stoke defender harrying him all the way, gets
within forty yards of the Stoke goal and manages somehow, even with
a Stoke defender doing his best to bring him down without being seen
to foul him, slides a curving ball along the ground into the right
hand bottom corner of the net.
Brilliant goal, brilliant finish, brilliant Town!!!!
