Vineyard of the Lord
“My well-beloved has a vineyard on a very fruitful hill He dug it up and cleared out its stones, and planted it with the choicest vine .He built a tower in its midst and also made a winepress in it; So He expected it to bring forth good grapes ,But it brought forth wild grapes. Judge please between Me and My vineyard What more could have been done to My vineyard, That I have not done in it? Why then when I expected it to bring forth good grapes, did it bring forth wild grapes? And now, please let me tell you what I will do to M y vineyard;
I will take away its hedge, and it shall be burned; and break down its wall, and it shall be trampled down. I will lay it waste; It shall not be pruned or dug, but there shall come up briers and thorns, I will also command the clouds that they rain no rain on it. For the vineyard of the Lord of Hosts is the house of Israel and the men of Judah are His pleasant plant.. He looked for justice, but behold, oppression; for righteousness, but behold, a cry for help.” Isaiah 5:1-7
This portion of Isaiah five was written around the 8th century BC, but it could just as easily be written for today and the Messianic Movement. God has caused the movement to flourish in recent times He has allowed it to re-establish itself as the Israel of God with all the rights and privileges that pertain there to, but it brought forth wild grapes, in other words it was the song of the Lord of Hosts, of His vineyard. But it was not happy to be His beloved, it was not happy to be in His New Covenant with the hedge around, it wanted to work to its own agenda.
Let us now discuss this agenda; the movement has thrived through some of the worst anti Semitism and replacementism that satan could throw at it. There are some 15000 Messianic believers in the Land of Israel and many more thousands in the rest of the world, God has planted his vineyard but it has in recent years brought forth wild grapes. The Son of God has died to save mankind leaving them with the heritage of the Sons of God, but many were not content with what He left in the confines of the New Covenant, they have gone back to rabbinicism, they have gone to the two house movement, and many other abominations, they have gone under slavery and left the beauty of His grace to be back under the Law, they are not content to live by faith which states “My Yoke is easy My burden is light” (Math 11:29-30) they are not content to listen to the words of His faithful servant Paul who writing to Titus states
“But avoid foolish disputes, genealogies, contentions and strivings about the Law
for they are unprofitable and useless. Reject a divisive man after the first and second admonition
knowing that such a person is warped and sinning, being self condemned.” (Titus 3:9-11)
They are warped because they are going beyond their remit in order to fulfil their own righteousness, infact they have been warned many times in scripture lest they go astray!!
Cor 4:6 “ Do not go beyond that which is written”
Titus 1:9: “encourage others by sound doctrine and refute those who appose it”
1 Tim 4:16: “Watch your life and doctrine closely; persevere in them, because if you do you will save both yourself and your hearers”
1Cor 11:2: “Keep the traditions just as I delivered them to you”
Gal 1:6-8: “ I marvel that you are turning away so soon from Him who called you in the grace of Messiah to a different gospel, which is not another; but there are some who trouble you and want to pervert the gospel of Messiah. But even if we or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel than what we have preached let him be accursed”
Gal 2:15: “We who are Jews by nature, and not sinners of the Gentiles, knowing that a man who is not justified by the works of the Law but by faith in Meshiach, even we have believed in Messiah and not by the works of the Law; for by the works of the Law no flesh shall be justified. But if while we seek to be justified by Meshiach, we ourselves are found sinners, is Messiah therefore a minister of sin? Certainly not.
So here we are wondering just what has happened to the hedge that was around us, we are finding things tough to cope with because we have left the simplicity of Messiah to go after another gospel which is not another.
We have forgot the teaching of Messiah who said we should love one another, infact it was a command we disobey at our peril. We have dispersed into private groups to practice our own gospel not the gospel of Meshiach. We have to repent and come back just like the prodigal, where Father is waiting for us with open arms to receive us right back where He placed us in the first place. Then the blessing will then continue. But if we really want to enhance our faith we should learn one thing that was taught us by Yeshua:
“ It is enough for a disciple that he be like his teacher, and a servant like his master” (Math 10:25)
We must learn to be like the Messiah, how you may ask? By not seeking to be more Jewish in the physical sense, but more Christ like in the spiritual sense. Messianic Jews are not superior to the Gentile part of the church, they must be serving as an example to the Gentiles of just how Messiah taught us to be humble, and gentle and kind and forgiving and instructive why? Because they are grafted in and as such need to learn that;
“For no other foundation can anyone lay than that which is laid, which is Yeshua Hamishiach.” (1 Cor 3:11)
Why? “Because His divine power has given to us all things that pertain to life and Godliness, through the
knowledge of Him who called us by glory and virtue. by which have been given to us exceedingly great a
and precious promises, that through these you may be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the
corruption that is in the world through lust. But also for this very reason, giving all diligence, add to
your faith virtue, to virtue knowledge, to knowledge self control, to self control perseverance to
perseverance Godliness, to Godliness brotherly kindness, and to brotherly kindness love. For if these
things are yours and abound, you will be neither barren nor unfruitful in the knowledge of
our Lord and saviour Yeshua Hamishiach “(2Peter 1:3-8)
So brothers let us go on to building a Messianic Movement with vision and purpose that lays up something for the next generation who will do far more than we have been able to accomplish.
