This is the Home Page for Ashfield Chess Club.
Formed in 1965 as Sutton in Ashfield Chess Club it subsequently became known as Sherwood House Chess Club before assuming the present title.
The Club now has two match evenings and venues. The main club night is a Tuesday and takes place at East Kirkby Miners Welfare. Low Moor Road. The second venue is Sherwood House Inn, Chapel Street where some teams play on a Wednesday. Any one interested in social chess is recommended to attend EKMW on a Tuesday. (See map below)
An affiliate of the Nottinghamshire Chess Association, the club will have five teams playing within different divisions of the Notts.Chess League in the 2005/6 season. Teams One and Four will play Home matches at Sherwood House Inn on a Wednesday, with teams Two, Three and Five playing home matches at East Kirkby Miners Welfare on a Tuesday.
New members, of any standard of play, are always welcome.
