The Manx Master
There can be little doubt that Tony Pond was indeed the Manx Master. He won the Manx International four times in all 1978, 1980, 1981 & 1986 as well as the Manx Trophy Rally in 1980.

He was leading the event by a country mile in 1979 when his Talbot Sunbeam’s engine expired robbing him of a certain win. Perhaps his best drive though was in 1984 when he brought in his ungainly Rover Vitesse SD1 into 3rd place beating off a raft of more powerful cars.
