by

All Souls Church has amongst its congregation numerous talented people, but not many of them can claim to be a published author.

Sarah Symons has recently had her second book published. "Fortresses and Treasures of Roman Wales" details all fortresses built in Roman Wales during the first century and includes details of all the excavations that have brought these once powerful structures back to life.

Sarah, born in the Swansea valleys, grew up in Shrewbury then moved to Ayslesbury. She worked as a secretary at Stoke Manderville Hospital and the BBC. Latterly she had the privilege of working at the House of Lords as private secretary to Lord Greenwood.

Returning to Wales, to Swansea, she became interested in the Roman era after attending a writing course at University College of Wales, Caerleon.

This is her second book, her previous work, The Wonders of Dan-yr-Ogof, was published in 2003.

Fortresses and Treasures of Roman Wales is available at Waterstones, Borders and WHSmith
