Star Man

An alien arrives on Earth...on a mission of first contact. Starring Jeff Bridges and Karen Allen.

Ladyhawke

A wonderful Sword and Sorcery film starring Matthew Broderick, Rutger Hauer and Michelle Pfeiffer. France is under control of an evil bishop, and it's up to Phillipe Gaston, a.k.a. The Mouse (Broderick), a petty thief and cat burglar to help Etienne of Navarre(Hauer) and his beloved Isabeau (Pfeiffer) avenge a terrible wrong done to them by the evil holy man and also save France from it's darkest hour.

Leo McKern brilliantly plays the old monk who redeems an earlier wrong he did to the lovers by helping them out, even going as far as to save Isabeaus' life. He also explains to Phillipe the terrible curse placed on Etienne and Isabeau, which must be broken if they are ever to be together again, and the world to be at peace once more...

Some telly programs I like to watch

Dragonball Z

Set some years after Dragonball, Goku is now a grown man with a family. In the space of a few episodes he finds out the reason for his increadible strength, finds out about his true heritage, and makes an alliance with an old enemy to defeat a new foe...his own brother!

A tale of heroism that says to always believ in yourself, and that no matter how bad things get you will find a way to overcome your troubles if you try. Massive explosions and awesome martial arts, a must watch for both young and old.

N.b. Not EVER to be associated with p*k*M** which is a confusing, plotless pile of shite aimed at 5 year olds with rich parents who will willingly buy all the pointless crappy merchandise. In one Ebay sale, someone who won a bid on some of this merchandise recieved death threats from losing bidders...avoid p*K***N at all costs!

The Twilight Zone

Rod Serlings' introduction into each episode is so unassuming and friendly, with cigarette in hand and a friendly smile on his face, he gives you a very brief introduction to the character to each episode and welcomes you to The Twilight Zone.

One episode could be about a sole survivor of a nuclear war, another about a young couple deciding between chance and fate, and another about a man doomed live out his last day over and over. Each episode tells a different story, but all have one common theme...that life is not exactly ordinary!

Always popular and being rerun all the time, look out for this program if you have never seen it.

Red Dwarf

The Jupiter class deep mining starship Red Dwarf has a slight "mishap" resulting in a reactor malfunction, resulting in the death of all those on-board, save for Dave Lister, surviving due to being in stasis as punishment for the poor repair job resulting in the disaster, and a cool dude he is despite having some unpleasant personal hygene habits and a delusion about being great on guitar, Holly, the ships' on-board holographic computer, and Kat. Due to being kept in stasis by Holly until radiation levels are safe, Lister not only finds that 3 million years have passed but in that time his pet cat and her kittens have evolved into a humanoid lifeform...unfortunatly, Kat is more concerned with his fashion and style than anything else. Holly decides that to keep Lister sane, he can spare the energy to use a holgraphic projection of one of the deceased crew, but much to Listers' dismay, to keep him from getting bored Holly brings back Arnold J. Rimmer, a self=important prat who is obsessed with order and discipline and has no idea of the real world in terms of people skills. These poor sods are later joined by Kryten, a friendly helpful robot whose only thoughts are to help Lister survive his travels through space and also to learn how to insult Rimmer.

"The boys from the Dwarf" have really funny adventures, like a planet where time runs backwards, aliens that feed off of emotions, and a Rimmer from and alternative universe who is nice, cool and not obnoxious in any way!

Each series is great (6 is my favourite) with loads of humour. Will have you calling people Smeg-head for ages!

Some books to feed my brain with...

Necroscope, by Brian Lumley

If you're fed up with vampire stories, then you'll love this. In these books, the vamps are evil, powerful, and DO NOT mince around, and DO NOT hiss at people to try and look scary and end up looking sissy.

Harry Keogh is a man from the north-east of England who has a very unusual gift, but a very powerful and amazing one. He can communicate with the dead, talking with them freely as he would a living person! But as that theory stats, every action has an equal and opposite reatcion...

Boris Dragosani is a necromancer. Rather than politely chatting with the dead, he has the power make the dead feel in their souls what he does to their corpses, torturing them for his KGB boss. However, he serves a higher power, a being who gave him the art he uses.

Thibor Ferenczy. Once a powerful warrior who defeated the invading Turk in the middle ages, he is now a vampire. Imprisoned in a woodland grave, buried under soil and wrapped in iron and silver chains, he lies...brooding...waiting.

Harry must learn to use his power to gain new ones, one which is the most awesome being taught to him the dead genius mathetician Augustus Ferdinand Mobius, if he is to defeat Dragosani, a corrupted man made evil who has made a pact with a being more evil than the Devil. Harry's adventures span over 5 books, with even more describing the exploits of those who have inherited his gift.

A must read for those want a vampire hunter with a bit of real power, and vampires that are truly a horror to behold...

Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintainance, by Robert M. Persig

This book is phenominal! A road trip between Father and Son riding on a motorbike across the USA, telling a tale along the way of a philosophical awakening, and the repercussions of such a discovery, all due the most difficult, impossible to answer questions ever..."What is 'Quality'?"

A book that really opens your mind, I recommend it to anyone who has questions about living life to the full, whilst having a sense of purpose without seeming pretentious and aloof.

The First and Second Chronicles of Thomas covenant, by Stephen Donaldson

Thomas Covenant is an outcast by society through no fault of his own. One day, after being hit by a car, he awakens to find himself on top of a mountain lookout in the presence of a powerful evil. The presence tells him he will bear a dark warning the rulers of the realm simply known as The Land.

Refusing to believe that the world is finds himself in is nothing more than a result of a head injury from the car crash, he slowly comes to terms with, not only being seen as the reincarnation of a long dead heroic leader, but that he and his white gold wedding ring hold the power to free the land from evil once and for all.

An epic tale, with both Chronicles seperated between 3 books each, this story is a fantasy that will stay in your minds eye forever!
