16    Indirect or Reported Speech

 

Indirect or reported speech uses the same tense as in direct speech.  Note that 'fi' (that spoken of) must be used where it is often omitted in English.

·        I told him (that) he could stay til Monday

me coz uil fi il adlestiez u dian

·        He asked 'Do you love me'

il koz 'k yu lovez me'

·        He asked if she loved him

il koz k el lovez il 

·        He said 'This is my car'

il coz 'xe bez kãr meva'

·        He said that was his car

il coz fi ce bez kãr ovsu
