Ashley
Giles bowls them over at the BBC Midlands Sports Awards 2005 ceremony Warwickshire
and England cricketer, Ashley Giles, scooped three top awards at
last night’s (4th December) BBC Midlands Sports Awards 2005
ceremony held at the National Motorcycle Museum at Bickenhall, Solihull.
The
Ashes hero was named ‘Midlands Sports Personality of the Year’, as
well as claiming the ‘Sportsman of the Year’ award and ‘World
Beaters’ honour along with Warwickshire and England team-mate
– Ian Bell. Ashley, who helped England triumph over the Aussies in last summer’s historic Ashes series, topped the voting by BBC Midlands Today’s viewers to take the top honour. More than 300 guests, including scores of top Midlands sporting personalities, were present at the glittering event hosted by BBC Midlands Today’s Nick Owen.
